How is it....

.....That my 15 year old mare can constantly take off her own fly mask (super mask with the ears and DOUBLE velcro closure) when all of my other horses can keep their's on??? I just don't get it, but I put it on her in the morning and every time I go out to feed in the evening she has it off! I'm about ready to give up!

We did give up Sam.. either they would rub them off on the trees, or get their "buddy" to take it off for them.. I swear, everytime I used to put them on, they would get into a mare huddle, and I would hear, "Psssst - you take off mine and I will pull off yours"

After picking them out of the pasture for the zillionth time - or retrieving them from the dog's jaws , I gave up..

Are you sure its not another horse? My gelding has been known to remove crib collars, flymasks, blankets, and gates..

I have sympathies for you! Socks NEVER keeps his fly mask on! Someone is always pulling it off. It's so frustrating!

My gelding does the same thing. And it will still be velcroed together. If you get one of those break away halters to put over it then it's harder for them to get it off. Although, I had another horse that had the fly mask off and the halter on when I came back out the next day.

I feel your pain! At least she just takes hers off, Opie rips his to pieces in the process... I just don't understand it, he will have flies so bad his eyes are runny, but he will not keep a fly mask on.
