I can ride my horse!

After 6 months of owning my gelding, I feel like I can finally ride him! The past 6 months I had a 16.5inch kincade close contact. I rode HORRIBLY! I used to jump and stuff so I was like wow I really stink now lol. I never had fun riding him, I was always off balance, and falling forward..saddle was wayy too small! So last week my patient Marine husband bought me a new saddle as I had posted..a 17.5inch wintec all purpose. I rode yesterday for a little while and it was AMAZING! just w/t but we went around the whole arena at such a nice trot and even a lovely sitting trot! My friends at the barn were like ''wow that was pretty nice'' because the way I described how I rode him with the wintec they thought I would be falling on his neck haha. Oh and the seat is soo comfy! Ok just had to share, hope this is in the right place :] I will be getting pics by next week!!!

Congratulations! It'll only keep getting better from now on.

I had a similar situation when I bought my horse a few months ago. I had an old western saddle from many many years ago. I tried riding Katie with that and she did AWFUL! It was so bad I was questioning why I even bought her. Then I tried someone else's Wintec with a wide gullet and the difference was like night and day! So I bought one and she's been riding like a charm ever since. All I can figure is that old western saddle was hurting or pinching her.

Tell hubby thanks!...for getting you the saddle and for also serving the country

It is amazing when things just "fit" right and riding becomes fun again.

WooooHooooo!

NEXT WEEK we have to wait that long for the pictures? Ok, but post them as soon as you take them!!!!!!!

It is amazing the difference a good saddle can make. I love my wintec, and the funny thing is, it has the med wide gullet in and it was used like that on a perch cross with it's original owner, my barrel of an appy, and my wee arab mare and it, fits them all great..ok it is a smigion big on the arab, but we use a cotton pad and a leather super pad under there and it is ok.

but most importantly it fits me, and I no longer feel like I am going end over tea cup

I have my close contact saddle safely packed away in the basement. I used to jump also. Now that I am riding green horses, I decided I needed an all purpose saddle with a deeper seat and knee rolls. I was lucky ~ I found a used Stubben AP at a tack shop in Calgary and it fits me and all of our horses beautifully.
