Zippy did it!

Might not seem much to you, but its an accomplishment for me!

Ive been trying since Zippy was a weanling to get him to eat treats. Anything of any sort, he won't eat. Not homemade treats, store bought, carrots, apples.. NOTHING.

And tonight I FINALLY got him to eat half of an apple and he was begging for more! Finally, I don't have to feel so bad when I feed everyone else treats and he doesn't get any because he wouldnt eat them.

Still couldn't get him to eat the carrots though.

I know, Im a dork.

Aww that's cute. One of my mares will hardly eat any treats, but apples and carrots. She's so dainty about it too, takes smaller bites than I do.

Yeah that is Zippy! He was very careful not to touch my fingers or snatch it away. Togan is a hog and Im constantly having to get onto him to calm down and not take my whole hand! Zippy took very small bites and took his time to eat it. But when it was all gone he was searching for more.

Taken me two years to get this sucker to eat an apple.

Our Clyde cross filly won't eat treats but she loves grain! Maybe there's hope for her yet!

The arab i'm training will only eat pepper mints and my friends gelding will only drink apple juice. No apples, just apple juice. I've heard the famous show jumper Big Ben would only eat bran muffins.Horses are strange creatures.

I understand your happiness! I recently got my rescued unhandled Clydesdale to take treats from me. What joy to feel those big lips flapping to get the treat!!!! He would let me touch him anywhere but his face and now he puts it right up to me to be petted and of course...give me those big draft puppy eyes for a treat!

Isn't great the look when they eat that first treat and give you the....Why didn't I do this sooner look?

Have you ever treid breakfast cereal on him? I understand Fruit Loops and Corn Pops are nearly irresistable.

Of course, I've never met a horse that wasn't a major cookie monster.

When I was first starting to work with my horse, he wasn't mine then, he wouldn't eat carrots either.
