Ingrediants for a Good Day

After what seemed like days/weeks of rain/sleet and endless mud, I loaded up my horses and went to town. A friend and I rode them over to the little old place where my childhood horse lived. The old Italian couple still live there and enjoyed visiting with me and my new horses. Its been over 30 years since I kept a horse there It turned into such a nice SUNNY day that my friend and I just kept riding around our little town. We even went to the Post Office!!....I've always wanted to do that.....We rode thru neighbourhoods and down little trails behind houses, dealt with traffic and dogs and rode past a bunch of heavy equipment fixing our streets. We rode on grass and pavement, big bridges and even a gallop around the baseball park. The horses thought it was great to eat the lawn at the Father-in-law's house when we stopped there to say Hello....

I'm sooo proud of my boys for being such Steady Eddy's in all this!! They just take it all in stride and seemed to enjoy the sights and ...best of all....no mud!!

A good ride with a good friend on good horses to visit good people in the sunshine makes for a good day!! Just wanted to share...hope everyone else gets to experience something that makes them say....."Its Good to be Alive"!!

Sounds like a perfect day! Reminded me of when I was a teenager -- I used to ride my horse everywhere and anywhere -- It was common to see me riding along Main Street of my hometown. I used to stop at the market or icecream shop to get a snack (tieing my horse outside) because I typically rode from dawn to dusk. We covered many many miles in a day. No wonder my horse always ran away from me when I'd go to get him. Oh to be young again.....

What a story! I always wanted to just be able to ride through town. I live like 40 miles from town though I should just load up and go there just to ride around
What a wonderful story. Sounds like you got some good boys

I like riding in town sometimes....makes me feel like that fearless kid again.

Its like the ultimate trail ride with all the scarey things to pass. It was so much fun that I didn't even care when Senator decided to deposit a nice "pile" on the grass in front of a church .....but I was prepared with my bags, and my scooper and my plastic lined saddle bag just for this purpose......
