Picking up a new horse!!!!

But not for me LOL... My daughter's best friend has a horse. When I went to pick Madison up from there on Sunday dad was telling me the girls spent all afternoon with Dolly and he would sure like to find a nice quiet horse for his 10 year old son. Paul said the only one he found so far was 21yrs old with a price tag of $1200! told him I know lots of people with lots of horses and always hear of something that would work for decent money. Just not to get impatient but that this was always a great time to look with winter coming on. So... yesterday I place a phone call on a 23yr old mare. Ruth is still sound and sane and just what a beginning kid needs to learn the ropes on.

Ruth is utd on all her vet and farrier work, has been rode every 2 weeks all summer but couldn't take the week long trail rides anymore the owner likes to go on. Though she still does great on over nights and going out two times a day.

I called Paul and told him I found a horse told him they were giving the horse to Connor and would meet us 1/2 of the way! Ruth is about 70 miles from us. Well Connor is very excited as well as Ruth's old owners. And I bet Dolly will be thrilled to have a buddy sharing her pasture as well!

I am taking Shunke and Scampi along for the trip which I am sure they will love as when we get back to Amanda and Connor's we are going to ride down to the lake since it is suppose to be 65 here on Saturday. So I am thinking this is going to be a great weekend!!! I get to play with kids and horses!!!

Oh yeah... this is Ruth

What a wonderful thing you did! I'm sure the old gal will be happily used by her new owner and live a good life

Picking up a new horse

Oh, don't you just love those seniors! How lucky you are to find one like Ruth who can still give a young child the joys of horse ownership and teach him all about horses. Bless the old ones. And she is so lucky to get another chance to share her knowledge.
I still have my old guy at 29. though he is too lame to be ridden. He can still pack around small children once in a while. And after all the good years he's given me he deserves to be just loved on. When he's gone I plan to adopt another old horse as a companion to my younger one.

we will have pictures and a better ride!!! We decided to take all the horses and meet at Camden State Park and have a nice ride! I am really excited as Amanda now needs a new saddle and I get to help her saddle shop and Connor is getting a great new horse and I get to ride with my favorite riding partner, my beautiful daughter!!! Doesn't get much better than that!
