Started off as a vent...

I absolutely love big, tank built, bay roans. They are my absolute favorite color, build and I could look at them forever. I was offered what used to be my dream horse today at a pretty decent price. A Two ID Bartender, built like a tank, bay roan, mare!

I can only use one horse, only want to pay board on one horse and I have a paint! I bought Shunke this summer. He was a very green 9yr old gelding that I should have sold after a very dangerous trailer episode. But he didn't get put up for sale as I wasn't finding anything I wanted to replace him with so I kept riding him, working with him on trailering and of course, all this time we are spending together we are bonding

My vent...
Why did this mare not come along when I was looking this summer? Before I became so attached to my Shunke? To buy her now would mean selling Shunke. So I have now come to realize that my dream horse is a sorrel tobiano gelding, who has left a very large hoof print on my heart and the life time of wanting a bay roan just a fading memory.

Funny how the big ol paint with the soft brown eyes turned a life long dream of owning a beautiful bay roan into a living dream of having found the most wonderful riding partner in a Sorrel Tobiano!

Guess my vent is not really a vent at all. Just a new love story with a different ending.

Ah, how things change. Love the last pic of your handsome lad, is he chomping on his lead rope? Cleo loves standing around chewing on lead ropes. mmmm nom nom nom.

I know how you feel. I love paints! Especially black and white ones. I HATE palominos, think they are ugly and just don't like them. Wanna guess what I am riding? A palomino! I actually have 3 horses and not a paint in the bunch!

I agree with Kanoo.

I always dreamed of owning one of the baroque breeds; Lippizzan in particular.

That or "The Black Stallion". (Didn't every little girl?)

What ended up with my heart was a goofy little non-typey Arabian (decidedly NOT black, but bay) and a too-smart-for-his-own-good Paso Fino (black in color).

At least the Paso was the right color. Just...not the right breed.

Congrats on the love of your life.

Amazing how that 'bonding' thing works. The Arab was to be a project horse for me to sell. I fell in love.

Darn horses!

Similar to men, I think

Married the man of my dreams and he turned out to be a nightmare. Kissed a frog and we have been together 24 years, now-- all of them wonderful.

Thanks for all the responses. I really don't have my heart set on a bay roan anymore. I like the guy who chomps his lead ropes I liked reading all the others who have won our hearts without being the one of our dreams...even the man in the last thread!
