BUM

Rest in Peace Bum's Lady Senator--
Bum was a nice bay twh mare in her late 20's. She'd been a broodmare most of her life, having several world grand champions on her pedigree. She entered my life nearly 6 yrs ago, when I purchased her while she was expecting. The sellers promised she was good mom and a nice mare. They were right. She absolutely was.
And a lady 100% of the time. She gave me two beautiful foals. After having her last foal in the year 2006, she enjoyed short trail rides and her time in the pasture.
I put her down today. She had developed some health issues and could not seem to over come them & continued to decline. I think it was the kinder thing to do, and the vet agreed it was for the best, especially since winter is around the corner, I do not think she would of made it through. Still it was a hard thing to do. This type thing is never an easy decision.
I went through the usual morning routine w/ feed and brushed her up, she was feeling rather peppy for once, made it just that much harder to do.

Here are a couple recent photos of her:

The hardest thing to do is the right thing. I applaud you for that. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful mare.

I had to make that same difficult decision for my mare last September. It is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, as I'm sure it was for you as well. I'm so very sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful mare, and the decision you made was out of your love for her. You did the right thing for her. (((Hugs)))
RIP Bum

She was beautiful and I'm sure she appreciated the happy times she had living with you. Sorry for your loss and your difficult, but loving, decision.
