Tule loaded, and I can prove it! Update from today

Now I am NOT going to be so rash as to assume that I'll get him to do it this easily again, but I did get Tule on the trailer this evening with minimal fuss.

We did work on it for a while this afternoon and then I rode. When I was done, I decided to give it one more try. Then my friend Cindy called me and pointed out that I might try it from a different angle; instead of walking uphill and onto the step of the trailer, maybe Tule would respond to downhill and pretty much even footing. AND HE DID.

Proof!

Now I realize I'm not going to find a small incline like this any time I park my trailer, but I think as long as we keep working on this, maybe Tule will realize everything is okay with his world and stepping onto the darn thing isn't an issue to be debated like this any longer!

Now to get Dillon to unload....yesterday the sweet boy spent an hour on the trailer because he couldn't figure out backing....so now we will work on trust and backing and getting off the silly thing!! *sigh* if it's not one thing it's another.......

Oh and please notice how tense and stressed he isn't...look at that cocked foot and the fact he's not tied

Poor Dapple Gray. One wont load and the other wont unload. I think you are making a lot of progress from the 4 hour incident you were posting about not long ago. Good job! Oh and im sure Dillon will figure out how to get out of that dang contraption eventually lol.

Yay! Good job on getting him in there stress free! I think I'm going to try loading Red going slightly downhill as well, I hope that will help my uneasy loaders...

Awesome! I am so glad to hear that he finally loaded. It is definitely a step in the right direction. He looks perfectly happy in there.

Congrats! Sometimes it only takes that one time to prove to them there are no "horse eating trolls" laying in wait for them inside the trailer!

Even better today!

This morning he loaded on the second approach to the trailer. So we achieved success in under five minutes. Quite a turnaround from Friday's over four hour ordeal, isn't it! The biggest part of this is, I did it alone. No one else was even on the property. Of course that meant no witness...oh well.

I went ahead and locked him in, and we went for a little drive down the road to visit a friend at my local TSC just so I'd have a witness

And when we got home I unloaded him without fuss and immediately walked him to his pasture.

So now it's practice, practice, practice and keep changing the externals. So the routine for getting onto the trailer will never change to the best of my ability, but what happens once he's on will change. Always positive!

Even when you think you have it down pat with a young one - you'll be surprised when all of a sudden for no reason - he won't load. Mine does it to me all the time. Load perfect 9 times - # 10 - no go
