Another Farrier question! (long)

I'm sick of farriers!!! The farrier I'm using now I don't think is the one I need This last time was a nightmare so for the last 4 weeks I have been racking my brains on what I should do. 5 weeks ago when he did her she broke the cross ties when he slapped her the second time and yes she was moving around a little and I know it is dangerous for him with the nails and such, but he was just so cranky about it. And then I handed him a $100 check.
She is due for her feet next week and I'm worried about using him again. Her feet look awefull nail holes have pulled thru, broken and cracked hooves etc. I have had this mare for a year now and never had so much problems until I started using him, he is suppose to be the best, but I heard the other day he has only been doing it for 2 years.
The other thing is he re-sets between times and charges the same, if he does her this time I'm going to re-quest new shoes.
Farronsgranny if you read this he is best friends with your farrier so I can't go that route.
The other farrier I can use, is good and use to do Smoochie and does some at the barn I'm at now, but I've been told he puts to small of shoes on them I have no clue. The farrier I'm using now puts 2 sizes bigger on her then the other one could that be a problem?
Sorry this is long but I'm worried and just plain don't know where to turn. Please give me your feedback on this.

If you think ferrson s farrier is better for you than use him.
Why settle for someone you are not happy with., It is your money and your horse You are better to have shoes taken off and go barefoot (if possible) that to put up with shoes that are not fit properly.

Just catching this thread but WOW 2 sizes difference in the shoes they use on the same horse...to me that's huge. Does she feel different when you ride her after she has been shod by the different farriers? Which one shoes her in a way that makes her feel better when riding? Do the bigger shoes stick out from under the hoof anywhere? I hope you already have this straightened out but I would like to know the resolution.

If you like the farrier that Ferronsgranny uses call him, friends are one thing but business is another. Just because he is friendly with the guy in person doesn't mean they are really friends, he could just be showing some professional courtesy.

David,
I just had her done again last week, not by choice. I spoke to the farrier mentioned before and told him I needed her done, well he went out there and did her with me not there, he dates a girl that has her horse at the same barn. He didn't call me, just went and did her.
She started out with 00 shoes then when I started with the farrier ubove he moved her to an 0 size shoe. Now she has a 1 on and yes it does stick out in the back, but let me tell ya we showed her last weekend and she moved better then ever and up to yesterday is showing no sign of lameness. But I also put her on Coosequin about 3 weeks ago.
I'm worried about it sticking out in the back, but she has not caught it yet.

Ok, I'm not sure what Coosequin is but if she is moving better and acting like she feels better then the new guy may know what he's doing, he just needs some manners. Maybe you should tell him the things you don't like. Remember, when you provide the money, you make the rules. I don't let farriers hit my horses with tools at all. If a horse needs to be disciplined that's fine but I don't agree with just hitting them with whatever you have in your hand. Another thought is you might give her a good work out right before being shod so she is not so fresh. You could also let her practice holding her feet up between shoings so that she doesn't move as much. If she's perfect he won't have a reason to hit her.
