Equine Trailrider..., Thought of U!

I was just watching Rural Heritage on RFDTV, and they had a blacksmith on there trimming a draft horse's hoof. I thought of U and your farrier issues of late,..., hope that's gotten resolved some.
Also, couldn't get over the size of that hoof compared to the man's hand as he trimmed away at it. HUGE! Redboy

Hi Redboy. Thanks for thinking of me! Farrier issue not resolved and I don't think it will be. IMO she is not concerned about losing a client (and friend) as we have not spoken, or should I say emailed, since last week, even after telling her I would like to resolve this issue and have her keep trimming my horses. I tried to work things out to no avail. At this point, I have made arrangements with my traditional farrier to trim my draft as well as one of my saddle horses that was trimmed by her also. He's really fast and accurate with the other horses so I see no reason why he wouldn't be with Sunshine. He understands my concerns and respects my decision to keep her out of stocks and shoes. He's been trimming my colt and is very patient with him and is helping him learn. I really like that.

Actually, I guess I forgot to mention that my foot wouldn't stand up to being stepped on by a hoof that size too many times either.
The size of it just amazed me!
Sorry things haven't gotten resolved, sometimes business can B even more difficult if there is a friendship involved.., I feel that I'm learning that the hard way myself..., BUT, I try to keep it all in perspective, and take care of what I can, and what I can't, will take care of itself.
Maybe it was just time for a change, maybe she was looking for an excuse to stop doing them anyhow,.., nothing personal, but U know how people can B.
Maybe she was feeling overwhelmed, and didn't know how to tell U.
I'm glad U R lined up with your old farrier.
I would worry mostly that I couldn't keep my guys on schedule..., and I like my older gelding done every 6 weeks.
I had a friend/ farrier who would do that to me. He had done my horses for years..., He would make the apptmt, NOT show, I'd call and tell him he forgot me, make another appointmt (for the next day, mind U), NOT SHOW for that one either. I got pretty sick of that treatment, because my time is valuable too.
But what can U do..? I found another farrier who has worked on my horses the last 10 years, and he is great to me. So it all worked out for the best
Have a great weekend, RB
