Home Remedies for Thrush

My horse has thrush. After cleaning out her hoof, I have been putting peroxide on it with a needless seringe, but I feel that is isn't doing enough. Are there any other home remedies I could use that would help her? Thanks!

I use Apple Cider Vinegar (the kind with the "mother" not the distilled kind). I apply it about once a week to keep my horses' hooves in good shape. It can be found in a health store like GNC or sometimes in the organic section of a grocery store.

Google "ACV for horses" -- you'll be surprised at all it's good for!

I have been really lucky with a 50/50 of a triple antibiotic (like neosporin) and athelete's foot cream (with clotramizole) -- we call it "goo". I mix it, put it into a dosing syringe, and squirt it in. (Clean the hoof well first.) A little goes a long, long way.

Many people have had good luck with the cow mastitis med "Today" (there is also one called "Tomorrow"). Some use LA-200. These meds are antibiotics. I find the 50/50 mix to be cheaper, especially if I pick up the generic brands at Walmart. Plus, this mix is both an antibiotic and an antifungal (to get yeast and fungus as well).

I use ACV to keep thrush at bay. I mix it 50/50 with water and add several drops of tea tree oil and spray it on.

My farrier just recommended SavAHoof as a good treatment for thrush (won't kill healthy tissue like so many of the other medications/remedies). I bought some (spray bottle) and like how easy it is to use, but have not yet used it on a thrush case (as my mare that was so prone to thrush hasn't had any real issues since I used the "goo".)

I've mixed hydrogyn peroxide and betadine scrub solution half and half, and sprayed it on from a spray bottle.

We only ever use Coppersep or Coppertox but our farrier has mentioned packing the hoof with that white lime stuff you sprinkle in stalls to deal with the urine. We've never tried it, though, so...

I've never tried it but I've heard Listerine works too. IDK, I think it might burn though.

I have always soaked their hoof in epsom salt in a warm bucket of water for a little bit for a couple of days its draws all the infection out. Clears it up everytime

I've Heard Of The Listerine Method As Well. ......kills 99.9% Right? I Did Use It On One Of My Guys Back In The Day And Apparently It Worked Ok. Didn't Give Me Any Grief W/ Doing It Either. And This Is A Horse That Pitches A Fit If 'something Smells Funny' Around Him.

We use Tomorrow paste, as recommended by my farrier. It's made for cows and comes in a tube with a long plastic applicator. Works great and it's about $2 per tube.

Thrush

Clorox works, just use an eye dropper, thrush buster as well! Most important is after the initial treatment, keep him in a dry place, and clean and treat everyday for about 30 days.
