Nutrena

My husband and I are in the possible works of becoming Nutrena Feed dealers. I just wanted to know some feedback from you all. Do you all feel there is a market for a dealer who is willing to go to your farm and help you build a custom feed program and deliver your feed to your farm?

We would also allow for people to come to us but I really like the idea of building customer loyalty through getting to know them and their animals and families.

Let me know what you all think!

I think that is a great idea! I really like the rep here in our area, he is always willing to help decide on the best feeds and that sort of thing, but having someone who would be willing to come out and body score the animals, talk about their needs and health issues, and work regimen, would be a huge benefit.

Agreed. Feed delivered by the rep is so nice! I think a personal relationship with customers builds loyalty but can also make one feel uncomfortable if they ever consider changing feed companies. I think the key to that would be keeping the lines of communication open and let your customers know that if they have concerns to address them with you. I left my dealer who delivered my large monthly grain order to my farm because the price went sky high and I needed a cheaper alternative, which he said they had. He was supposed to get back to me and never did. That left me with no other choice but to switch all the horses over to their new grain in a crunch! He could have kept me as a customer if he'd only communicated with me. He lost a big account because of a lack of customer service.

I love let me repeat LOVE feed delivered by the rep. Our current Rep is GREAT! He always has new tidbits for me and keeps me updated on changes etc.. He has Product analysis on hand if I have any questions etc.. We've actually helped him promote his product to 3 other farms and we need just one more large order per month and we'll be contemplating the dealer thing ourselves. It would be a win win situation for all since their already getting their grain delivered with ours anyways. Always remember though that a smile goes a long long way

Thank you for all the replies. I have a few people already on board for wanting feed so that is a good sign. I am going to compile my list of farms to contact tonight too! Hopefully it works out for us.
