Poor Miley!

Just as we were getting ready to go to the barn this afternoon, I got a call from the BO asking if I knew what was wrong with Miley's eye. It was extremely swollen. I told her no, so she went in her stall, and looked more closely.

Miley ripped off almost her entire eyelid. It was hanging down in her eye, it looked like a false eyelash hanging there. Before I even got there, I had the vet on the way, and she sedated her and sewed it back on.

Poor girl! I have no idea what she did it on, but the vet said it is not an uncommon injury, that they are often just trying to rub their face and get it caught on something. I have no idea what she did it on, just a couple of weeks ago, we went through the stalls and hammered in all the loose nails and checked everything, as we do periodically. We looked very thoroughly, but we couldn't find anything. There was blood on the wall near her window, but there was nothing sticking out there.

Please say a few prayers for an easy recovery for her!

That's horrible, I'm so sorry. At least the injury was caught quickly.

Yep, my husband wanted to know if I couldn't just stitch her up, so we wouldn't have to pay the emergency fee. Um, yeah, except I don't have any sedation!!

Thank goodness your BO pays attention.

Poor Miley, this will give your little one time to love on her pony though.
Strengthen that bond they have.

They always tend to get injured at the worst moments - the few issues I've had here have either been in the evening/night or on my vet's day off. Last one what when my vet was with his wife while she was having a c-section. Love their timing.

I hope Miley heals quickly!

Molly did that too...after it healed you'd never know it happened.

Yeah, Carri, I had one that did it, too. The vet tried to staple it back together and THAT did not go well. After it healed, really not a visible scar!

Good healing thoughts headed Miley's way.
