I would recomment using garlic. Its fed to them through there food. I have an uncle that doesnt feed grain so he just sprinkles it on there hay so they can somehow get it into there systems. I'm not sure but I think it takes a few weeks to build up in there system but keeps biting bugs and flys away. this web site sells jars of it and there you can read more about it. . hope this helps!

What Trex said....
This is my third year using Fly Predators. I get mine from Spalding Labs, but they are the same thing. I would go crazy without them! Flys are never a problem around here since we started using them. Cut the population by about 95% (yes, really!) Here's the link to their website. http://www.spalding-labs.com/ I'm in Michigan and I start them in April and stop them in September. I get 5000 a month, with two double months during the summer, then back to 5000 month. It cost me about $19.00 a month.

A very dark building works best. If windows need boarding up, old rugs hung across doorways, etc. the darker the better. Few flies will enter. I use a food grade Konk in the automatic sprayer which makes a huge difference for the few flies that do enter.

Thanks everyone for your advice
) . Im going to check out all the info given and put it to good use. I have tried using garlic before but could never get the horses to eat it at all . They actually stopped eating their grain if garlic was in it. The Fly Eliminator stuff , I will have to wait till next spring to start on that since the season is almost over. Thanks !! |

Just put out the latest shipment of Fly Prediters for the year. They do work very well. Have had to hardly use any fly spray this year.
I have also used fly traps. They do work but seem to attract more flys then they kill. When you use them you really need to put them up away from the barn and horses. I tend to hang them in the pine trees just out side the fence line. Keep the extra flies away from the barn and horses. Heidi
