Sulfur Salt?

We just got a new salt block in our store, and it's yellow. I took a closer look and it's sulfur salt. Has anyone offered this to their horses? Is is safe for them to consume? I was just curious and knew this was a great place to ask for answers.

I learned through having my store that the "Old Timers" feed these to cows and it keeps the flies off. After watching for about 1 yr, asking questions and looking at ingredients in other products, I fed it to mine with no problems. The active ingredient in MTG and Nu Stock is sulpher Those both promote healthy hair growth and fight skin fungus. Nu Stock also gets rid of mites. (Makes sense! flies. mites, same concept) I talked to others that fed it with no problems. So I put it out and haven't had any rain rot since. I do have a friend who's horse is allergic to sulpher, so you might want to try putting Nu Stock on the horse first. I can olnl tell you from personal experience and asking others. I have never read anything bad about it though.

I have never used sulpher blocks myself, so don't know, but if I did I darn sure wouldn't stand behind them when they farted...

We discussed this recently with a Purina Equine Nutrition specialist. She said that if the block is not specifically marked for horses, do not give it to them.
Things that cows can have are not necessarily good for horses. I would check the label or do some homework before giving it to my horse....

I was told it was a fly repelant as well. I could be wrong, but I also think it is supposed to repel mosquitos.
