What size needle? New question

What size needle do I need to vaccinate my horses? I am buying some vaccines off of JeffersEquine and wasnt sure what type I should buy and what would be the best/easiest to use.

Thanks!

I like an 18 gauge about 1 in....seems to work well for even the thick skinned ones.

New Question!

Fluvac® Innovator 6

Equine Influenza (KY 97), Eastern, Western & Venezuelan Encephalomyelitis , Rhinopneumonitis Vaccine (killed virus) & Tetanus Toxoid
(Ft Dodge) Protects against Eastern and Western and Venezuelan Encephalomyelitis (sleeping sickness) and Tetanus. Aids in prevention of respiratory disease caused by herpes virus EHV-1 and EHV-4 and against Kentucky 97, the most current A1 and A2 influenza strain in an equine vaccine. Inject 1 ml IM, then a 2nd dose 2-4 weeks later. Annual booster is recommended. Horses subjected to repeated exposure may benefit from revaccination every 3 months.

What do they mean by this? Do I need to buy 2 vaccines per horse or will there be enough in each vaccination?

It depends-have the horses been vaccinated for this before? If not-then you give them a booster 3 weeks later...if they have...then you do not have to.
When in doubt-booster

Both have been vaccinated before and both are UTD They are due this month for their vaccinations. So would I give them 2ml each? Ive always had the vet do this but my friend said it's so much cheaper to go online and do it myself.

Then you just need the one shot, you don't need to boost...

1 shot is all that is needed. I give this 2x year... well 3 times this year when the sleeping sickness was in GA. I do like a 20 gauge needle for Vacs and a 18 for the thick stuff like Pen.

I like a 21 guage 1" needle for everything. I will use a 20 guage 1" needle for peniciliin. I work on Racehorses and they are typically thin skinned and do not take kindly to an 18 guage needle.
