Shapley's MTG does amazing things for mane and tail growth just be sure NOT to apply it in the sunlight!!!

THe best thing for a healthy shiney hair coat is a good balanced diet

I was going to suggest MTG but try it on a small area first. I used it on my ottb and it makes him swell with large hot bumps. I'd much rather have his rats nest. You can add corn oil to your horses feed for a shiny coat.

I always braid their tails after the bugs are gone in the fall, up until they start to arrive in the spring - re-doing them as needed. My dun mare's tail drags on the ground now, and another mare we got a year and a half ago (had her through most of two winters) came to us with her tail to her hocks and it's now a bit past her fetlocks

For shiney coats, corn oil as suggested, or milled flax seed can help. Mine get Hoffman's Mineral's (from UFA) and that seems to help with their feet and coats... UFA carries another loose bagged mineral too that is less expensive, but before I even knew that I was going with the Hoffman's and just stuck with it

Blackoil Sunflower seeds for a shiney coat. Feed about a cup a day.

Works great!

hey guys ive had this question, many times to many horse men her in town, and one owner or pure andalusion spanish horses, told me he acheivers it by cutting there tail and mane hair while they are weanlings, and he just had about thre of his broodmare giving birth and they about, 4 months old, and he already cut there mane and tail, he as an aztec breed horse, which is sire andaluzion, and dam quarter horse you get the aztec breed, well that horse has a long tail he drags, and mane long long very long, so he said cut there mane and tail, but when ther eyoung not when old, when there old you wont achive the growing since they made much of ther growing!!

I just found this site on mane bags, never heard of them before. They look pretty easy to make. Here is the site: http://www.toadstoolfarmart.com/toad...bags/how.shtml

Shapley's MTG, Hoffman's minerals, and canola oil in the feed. I use all three. And I'm a total believer in all of them.
As an Albertan, you'll be supporting a local business when buying Hoffman's, which is an added bonus, apart from the fact that they make superior products. I use canola oil over corn oil due to it's lower price, I don't see any difference in results in between the two, and canola is locally grown.
