Hair loss??

Okay, so today I noticed my mare's back looks like it has white patches on it. When I checked it out closer, the skin looked dry and the hair came out when rubbed or pulled. She was on Yucca pellets, but since I can't find it anymore I tried her without it. She seemed fine with the change. Also, I started her on corn oil to try to improve her hooves (they're really cracked), and am riding her more often (with a trainer).

What could it be? If I don't solve it or it doesn't go away soon I'll ask the vet, but could it be a skin condition or a result from the oil and the exercise?

Thanks for any imput.

Can you get pictures? Could be dietary change, irritant from saddle pad or possible fungal infection such as rainrot etc.

I will try to post pictures tomorrow, I don't have any at the moment. She gets 3 1/2 scoops (using a regular sized coffee can) of Blue Seal Vintage Senior, Probios powder in the morning and corn oil in the morning and afternoon. Since I have never bought a saddle before and this was a gift, I asked my trainer to make sure it fit. She said it did. I'm using a fleece saddle pad, but I've always used fleece and it's never happened until now. I'm stumped The one I've used lately I borrowed from another boarder, could it be from their horse?

This is the first time I've posted a picture, so bear with me if it doesn't work . It's not very good, but it shows the white spots.

Is it raised up at all, or crusty? Or just white tufts of hair falling out? I bet it's rain rot or some sort of fungal. Give her a medicated shampoo bath and wash the saddle pad and any brushes you are currently using on her as well. If it gets worse call the vet.

It's not raised or crusty, just white hair falling out. I'll wash the saddle pad and everything, and give her a bath and see if it helps. One side has improved, there's hardly any white at all and no hair is falling out, but there isn't a lot of hair there anymore. I'm really confused as to what it could be...

My daughters yearling had that problem this spring. The hair was just falling out. No scabbing or anything. Vet said it was fungus and gave her medicated shampoo. Cleared right up. Makes sure you wash all the brushes and saddle pads good.
