to bathe or not to bathe - florida peeps

Hey all,

With all this RAIN my princess of a filly has the itchies really really bad, between the mosquitoes and being wet for 5 days straight. I have been grooming (curry curry curry) every morning but she doesn't seem to be getting any relief. Should I give her a really scrubbie bath and if so with what for the itchies?

Also, she has a large "bump" on the bottom of her tummy???? Seems painful>? any ideas? I am wondering if she is having some kind of reaction to the fly spray I have been using??? Endure is the brand.

I would go ahead and bathe. If she has been out in the mud and yuck I would use an anti fungal shampoo. I have some horses that are more sensitive to mosquito bites than others, they usually are the pink skinned ones. I give them some Benadryl for the itching!

I would wash her really well and make sure she gets good and dry.

How long has the bump been there? Is it possible it is an umbilical hernia?

After a good bath could you keep her inside for a while to see if it gets better?

She is 3 so not a hernia, I am just thinking a really nasty bug bite. Gonna scrub on her this afternoon and make sure she is nice and dry in the yippee, now sunshine.

She just has me worried, she is my princess of the group.

I would bathe. Esp since the sun is shining. I am sure she would love some scrubbies.

update

She got a very scrubbie bath and I think very much enjoyed and needed it. Rinsed with Vetrolin (i love that smell). Hopefully we here in the sunshine state will get more of that in the days to come. Hard to keep a good attitude with all this rain but thankfully our house is okay and except for the water and mosquitoes everything at the farm is okay too. Show season is coming soon and I hope that she will be okay again and not so itichy
