Going With Triple Crown*Update*

I am switching feeds.

I am feeding 10 sweet right now...and it is doing no good.

Along with beet pulp and alfalfa cubes.

I just got off the phone with a dealer who is about 20 miles from me.

He can order Triple Crown for me on a weekly basis...or I can get the Safe Choice he has in stock.

Both are the same price.

Triple Crown feeds are from $14-$16.

Safe Choice is $14.68.

I told him that I heard....ah hum.....PeggySue ....that Triple Crown is the best out there.

He agreed...but said I would be only one of two people who order it from him!

Should I just pick one of the two?

Is it going to make a big difference.

The main concern is that it is a low sugar low starch feed right?

Another reason why I want to switch is because of this article!

I did not know high sugar feeds effected their feet!

I have fed Triple Crown with great success, I love several of the Triple Crown feeds.

I have never used Safechoice. They don't sell it locally, but I have heard good things about it.

If the safe choice is easiest, I might would try that first.

I can't vouch for the Safechoice, but I do love Triple Crown.

I was thinking of the TC Senior?

But then again....they are on a dry lot...so maybe this is best?

I am a huge fan of SafeChoice.
My gelding needed to put on some weight, and with safechoice, glucosamine, salt, and equest silver stuff he is doing wonderfully. it seems to put weight on just the right parts.

I fed the Senior to my OTTB and it did very well. I now feed TC complete in the winters (Sept-April) to all 4 of my horses, different breeds and ages, and they all do great all winter and look great in Spring. I only feed grain winters nowdays, I have enough pasture now that they stay fat and sassy on just grass from May-August. I really like TC complete.

If those were my choices I would use TC Complete LOL

The Safe choice has CORN in it and is about 23% NSC which is variable because it is NOT a fixed formula

maybe the TC Low Starch feed would be good too

or TC 30% supplement with your beet pulp

O.k....so anybody know what the deal is with the Safe Choice TC?

Basically the only forage my horses get is what I give them in hay.

I wonder if this feed would do well?

Peggy....I noticed there was two different types of feed for horses on little pasture....the Complete and the safe starch.

I am leaning towards the TC Safe Starch or the TC Complete with the 30% Supplement.

I use Triple Crown

Senior on my 30 yo
Complete on my others
Growth on Liberty.

I did use Safe Starch Forage and Low Starch pellets on Zack. I love triple crown and The senior is the only senior that put weight on my 30 yo.

the Safe Starch looks to be a forage replacement recommeneded amout is 20 pounds for a 1000 pound horse that is one bag of feed every other day basically!!!

the TC complete 6lbs per 1000lbs

and TC30% is 1lb per 1000 with 2% of BW in hay so roughly 20lb of hay a day

can you keep hay out basically free choice?? I don't remember

Ok...I figured it out!

I called the 1 800 # and talked to a rep.

Here is what we are going to do.

Sugar...who is my easy keeper is going to get the TC Lite.

With hay...and or alfalfa cubes....she should only get about 2 lbs per day.

Blondie on the other hand...will get the TC Senior.....6 lbs per day with hay and or alfalfa cubes.

Actually...I will save money in the long run...and have a better feed.

Very cool eh!

I use Safechoice and I love it. It has done wonders with all my horses. I like to get skinny horses and fatten them up. I have only used Safechioce on them and they all look wonderful and healthy. I use it on all ages, colts to seniors. I vote to at least try it.

Zack was on the triple crown Low Starch. I have been using TC complete since March and am very very happy with the results. The Senior I have been using for about 2 years.......

Sugar is just so easy to feed...like she could get tubby quick if I let her...so the way I understood it...the "Lite" formula is mostly vitamins and minerals.

I can supplement her some with the senior if she goes down any.

Which I thought was cool.

Blondie I think will greatly benefit from the senior.

I missed the order day which was yesterday at the dealer...so I will have to order Tuesday...and get it Friday when it comes in.
