Schreiners Anyone?

My horse had a very unfortunate incident on the weekend, resulting in some fairly severe lacerations to his hind leg. The vet was out and gave him some penicillin, banamine, etc., and cleaned out the wounds. We are currently giving him bute daily for the pain, an antibiotic, and dressing the wounds with this spray called Schreiners and putting swat around the outside of the wound and on the minor scratches on the rest of his body. Anyone have any experience with this spray? I had never heard of it, but it is absolutely amazing how fast he is healing. I had someone come over last night that had seen him the day of the injury and they couldn't believe it! Anyway, is this stuff new, or just new to me?? Either way, it has my vote

I used it on accident prone Willy many many many times. Works wonderful!

Yukonjack -- there must be something in the air -- my yearling put a gash in his chest this weekend as well. Yikes . I am trying a product called "Underwood Horse Medicine". Have never heard of Schreiners . . . ..
I feel so sorry for my little guy because he was just gelded on the 6th, and now this . . . . . . . Good luck with your horse and I hope he heals up nicely.

I am sorry to hear about your horse. This is my first time dealing with injuries as severe as this, so it has been a real learning experience to say the least. Especially since I usually pass out at the site of a needle or blood. Guess it's true what they say...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Good luck with your boy, sounds like he has had a bad few weeks...

Oh I hear you on the needles and blood thing . . . . I am the same way. I have had to deal with minor scrapes and owies, but nothing major like this. I am learning a whole lot too -- but could I please learn it from a book next time and not in real life !!!

I've used Schreiner's for years and absolutely love it and swear by it! It eliminates proud flesh and I don't think many products on the market really do that.
