how do you eliminate stall oders?

Hello everyone!! I was wondering how everyone eleminates thier stall oder? I have used Argicultural lime, and was thinking of getting that Stall PDZ? Does anyone have any ideas for me, suggestions or do they have a product that love and thinks works great? Love to hear all of them

This probably won't help, but.......I use lime. I have tried the stall out, stall pdz (can't remember the name). It looked like kitty litter. I had to use a lot of that stuff compared to lime and it was alot more expensive. I went back to lime because I did not see a big difference.

It's funny, I just saw an ad on here a couple of days ago for this stuff:

http://www.urineoff.com/Horse.php

It's a little pricey, but if it works?

Personally, I think the best solution for urine odor is simply cleanliness and stall mats.

I tried the Sweet PDZ (powder) when I was using shavings. It worked pretty well.

I switched from shavings to pellets. Love the pellets -- way better at controlling urine odor at our place. I have dirt floors in the two run-in stalls the horses use daily (we usually have three horses standing in one stall to get away from flies -- even if they are out, two of them will actually go into the stall to pee) and the pellets have been great with the dirt. I switched over because the pellets make stall picking a lot easier; the missing urine smell was an added benefit.

hold your nose lol just kidding...clean them and spot clean them in between and it helps a lot because the pee doesn't soak into the rubber stall mats.

Do you pull up your stall mats and clean under them? Stuff will accumulate there too and smell.

I use lime too but also use Ordorban. I spray that on the walls and the wet spot then use the lime.

Yup,, i do roll the mats up to the side and let them "air dry". But during the winter months i find it harder, cause i have so much bedding on them. I try to push the bedding to one side and roll the mat to the other, but it isnt as easy as it sounds! My mats are rather heavy, got them at the local farm store(TSC), so i cant just pull them out and put them back in.

I thought lime was caustic (sp)? How exactly do you use it?

Just sprinkle on the floor and put the bedding over it.

Thats an understatement I had to take the mats out because I had a swarm of flies in the 2 stalls that had them. I wanted to gag when I took them out to treat the ground underneath. I cleaned them once a week and water got underneath his stall door once and flooded the bedding. I had the pellet bedding in there so I had a big, fluffy disaster to clean up. Man that was gross, plus the mats were way too heavy for me to lug in and out alone, so I sold the darn things. I just have a couple where I put the hay, and then the pellet bedding. Its almost impossible to get them perfect so nothing gets in the cracks unless its a one peice, fitted mat.

Back on topic.. Barnbum gave me the great idea of using diluted Pinesol and it works great.

I totally agree with Fishing Trex. The pelleted bedding is great for wet spots in stalls. I go back and forth btween shavings and pelleted bedding. My stalls are totally and completely dry.
The only drawback is, it can get a bit dusty. RB

I have tried the pelleted bedding. I liked it at first, but i found that it would "pack up" where the horse would stand on it, and was getting hard for me to "fluff" so i went back to shavings.
