lameness
I have a 4 year old mini mare thats lame in one of her front feet. I put her on the lunge line for a few mins exercise on Friday and noticed saturday she was lame. I've clipped both front legs so i could compare them. They both look the same. I cant find any swelling or feel any diff in temps.
![]() I did put some horsemans linament on the sore side from shoulder to hoof. I checked the hooves too. No difference. She really doesnt want to put any weight on the sore leg. She's never been lame before and she wasnt even worked that hard only like 10 minis walking and trotting. I'm hopping she's just sore from working out or maybe she pulled a muscle i'm planning to keep putting linament on it and massaging. i'm going to try to go get some pain killer too like brute. I dont think she was kicked either her buddy is my stallion and they have been together for a whole year with out probs.

It could be a bruise, does she have shoes on, or has farrier recently trimmed. My horse's old farrier turned out to be actually making his feet crooked.

I would keep an eye on it..maybe an abscess? You could check for heat & digital pulse just to be sure she's not starting a bout of laminitis?? Could just be a stone bruise also.
