Equine Anatomy
i am wondering if any one knows of a reference online, that i can print out and study, of equine anatomy. More specifically the skeletal and muscle system of the horse. I need to memorize them by Monday for an Equine class at my college and the print outs we got are not very good. i need the legs to be pictures close up and just can't find anything to study off of that i don't have to purchase first. thanks to all ahead of time! Also, any tricks to help me memorize and understand were every thing is located would be great too. The questions are going to be phrased in reference to other parts of the horse. so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Oh yeah i thought this was kind of neat. its an actual horse with wash off paint on it of the muscle and skeletal systems. Here is the website: http://www.anatomyinmotion.com/vhorse.htm |

Try these:
Skeletal: http://www.sagehillcmk.com/Equine%20Skeleton.html http://www.sagehillcmk.com/Equine%20Skull.html http://www.sagehillcmk.com/Equine%20Forelimb.html http://www.sagehillcmk.com/Equine%20Hindlimb.html http://www.sagehillcmk.com/Equine%20Foot.html http://www.sagehillcmk.com/Equine%20Neck.html http://www.sagehillcmk.com/Equine%20Resp%20System.html http://www.newrider.com/Library/Misc...lower_leg.html Muscular: (There's not nearly as much as the skeleton.) This one might help with muscles - it shows them with their names, but it includes a graphic with a rider - still pretty neat! http://nicholnl.wcp.muohio.edu/Dingo...cringrider.gif Rear leg muscles? http://www.horseshoes.com/anatomy/es...yapparatus.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These may or may not be useful to you, but others might be interested: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one has general anatomy - but it's interactive with your mouse: http://horsecare.stablemade.com/Horse.htm These tell the functions of various anatomical parts, but not visuals. I would still think it's very useful, though: http://www.asaddlery.com/info/anatomy.htm http://www.equiworld.net/uk/horsecar...my/muscles.htm The Merck Veterinary Manual Online: http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/in...m/bc/90100.htm And for anyone else interested in the ones you can buy: http://www.rescuecritters.com/p25.html http://anatomical.com/product.asp?pn=0965446115 This site seems like it could help you quite a bit in the future, too: http://www.horseit.com/en/students20...INESCIENCE.htm Of course, the Anatomy in Motion site, where the artist paints the anatomy onto a horse, so that you can see how it functions as the horse moves: http://www.anatomyinmotion.com/vhorse.htm (I found that site ^ a few years ago, and I absolutely LOVE it!)

Also consider the anatomy and physiology articles printed in "the Horse Magazine". You can download them free from their website:
