My new horse. Thin little thing.

I get to bring home this little thing tomorrow. SHes about 15 hands. Ill spare the whole story, but shes just been neglected.
She cribs (and that is a cribbing collar over her halter) but I think that it is most likely due to hunger as shes been kept with a big herd of horses that run her off.

The pic makes her look actually better than she is. Her little chest is no more than a foot or so wide, and shes all sunken in everywhere. She is three and registered.

Shes much cuter in person too. Ill get her home tomorrow and get some updated pics of her to share.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words. I try every winter to take in at least one needy horse. I work hard for a living and manage to just get by like most others right now, but I think I have my priorities straight and buy nothing for myself. My kids come first of course, and then anything more goes to the horses.

Unfortunately, there are too many people who are somehow ok with letting a horse rot away like this. She is only three for crying out loud. Her teeth are fine from what I felt, and even cribbing is no excuse really. Ive had some hard-core cribbers in the past and NONE of them looked like this, even those that would rather crib than eat... This little girl is just hungry.

As I said, Ill get some more pics of her tomorrow, shes actually a pretty cute little thing, and I am not partial to appies

One thing about being thin, you can see their bone structure to evaluate their conformation better. Fat hides a lot of defects.

Like her colour I'm looking forward to seeing "after" pics in a few months.

She looks like she will be a stunning mare. and I am sure you will see to it.
You are a great person for doing this. I take in some every year also, than in the spring re-home, alot of work and love goes into these neglected horses.
