Unhappy ~HES HOME!~Prayers for Black Jack!!! Hes Coliced

"LONG STORY' Sorry!
"NOT AGAIN!" that is all I could think of today when I came home. I went out to get Monkey out...and I seen Black Jack(my moms gelding) in the corner laying down...I didnt think anything of it at first...I yelled his name and he lifted his head up. So, I went and got Monkey out. Then I tied him up...I had a bad feeling so I went down to Black Jack and he was laying there making the noise my Sweetie made when she was colicing last winter(we lost her RIP baby) Like a pushing sound...I dont know how to explain it. So, I made him get up...he got up...pooped and laid back down. This is when I knew something was wrong. So I go and get his halter. Called my mom(she was in town with the truck) and got him back up. Walked him up and down the drive way as I made a call to the vet. Then he goes down on our PAVED drive way. "Oh S**T" is all I could think. I knew this was it. Hes colicing for sure. He tried rolling and he was thrashing around. Then he laid there stiff and closed his eyes. I was yelling at him to get up and Ill I could do was cry. Losing Sweetie was the worse thing I ever went through and I just couldnt do it again. I prayed over him and listened to his belly. I heard some movement but not much. I got him back up and started walking him again. He had his head to the ground and was in pain I could tell...I just had to keep him walking til mom got home with the truck...then he goes down again! I broke down in tears...."not again, not again, not again...I cant do this again" thats all I kept saying. This time he wasnt getting up as much as I tried....then mom pulls up in the truck. She kept honking the horn trying to get him up...he wasnt budging. Finally after she pulled on his head and I smacked him he got up. We got him loaded and started heading up the the vets...a HOUR away! The whole ride up there he was thrashing around in the trailer.
Got him to the vet and put him in thier holding pen...just walked him trying to not let him get down and roll again...but when they go down theres nothing you can do. He went down 2 times in there before the vet even came out. They drugged him and we got him up into the stock...they did a rectal exam, pumped fluids into his stomach...did blood work. And didnt find anything out. His heart rate is normal. He isnt twisted as far as he could go in...and his fluid level is normal. He dosnt have any pressure in his stomach, his gums are normal...whats wrong with our boy? They vet still isnt sure and wanted to keep him overnight to monitor him. They gave him some pain meds...so atleast he isnt rolling and thrashing around. Pray for our Black Jack. We love him so much. Hes such a good boy.
Heres a picture of him

Probly a good idea to keep some "pain meds" at home for cases like this to make him comfortable a little quicker and to keep him comfortable in the trailer. So glad he didn't go down in the trailer. Just a suggesstion. Get some from your vet and keep it handy in the fridge.

Sand ? Poop test him ?

Hope he is doing better and he recovers soon.

Huggs and prayers ! Glad you got home when you did

I did have bute, but they told me not to give anything to him...so ya I donno. Its scary and hard. But, yes I do want to get some batimine from the vet incase this happens again. Colic is such a nasty thing. They didnt poop test him...as he hasnt pooped for them yet. We dont have sand up here...just rocks So, I dont think that is it. He had plenty of water and his fluid levels were fine...so...ya I dont know. With Sweetie...he stomach ruptured...and there wasnt anything we could have done for her is what the vet said....but we never even got her to the clinic Please keep our Black Jack in your prayers...if anyone has any suggestions/ experiences you would like to share please do...Im open to any and all suggestions. I DO NOT want to lose another horse to this nasty thing. Its just a horrible thing to go through. *sigh*

Well its about 7:30 right now and the vet said he would call tonight...but he said he was leaving the clinic at 7...so Im not sure why he hasnt called yet. Its just hard because I live so far away and not knowing how hes doing is just worrying. Im really worried about him. I dont want to lose the big boy. I cant go through the same thing I did with Sweetie.... I hope he calls soon. I wont be able to sleep without knowing if hes doing better. He was so drugged up when we left...I know once that pain med wears off he will be trying to roll and thrash...because that is what Sweetie did...although I think hers was ruptured when we got her home....She was out at pasture when it happened. I donno...I just hope someone is there to make sure his pain is under control til tomorrow when the vet comes back on duty...I also hope the vet calls so I can get some rest

You and Black Jack are in my prayers...I am so sorry to hear you're going through this, but he's at the vets, and will be cared for overnight. You try to get some rest, if possible...I know it's hard, though.

Hang in there...

Best-
Noni

Prayers for your Black Jack, nothing makes us feel so helpless than one of our horses getting sick, is someone going to be at the clinic to monitor him all night, I hate to say this, I think I would have slept in his stall.
sorry.

Update

Okay, so I think I have good news. The vet called around 8...which was about 3 hours ago...and said that Black Jack was out grazing Said we can come get him in the morning....But, Im wondering if the pain meds just are still in effect....because thats what happened with Sweetie...we had her on pain meds and she seemed to be doing better and then she ruptured So, I guess we will know more in the morning...he said that someone will be there around 11:45 to do a last time check til morning...So, Im putting my trust in the vet I suppose. Please just keep him in your prayers tonight that he is indeed improved and has passed whatever was caught in there(if there was something?) Im just concerned on what the hell was going on with him. Maybe the fluids they pumped into his stomach helped? I dont know...im still pretty worried....but thats the update...and thats all I know right now...what are your guy's thoughts? Maybe Im just a worry wart...but after losing Sweetie the way I did this was a da sha voo...I was/still am freaking out so bad...All I could say is 'I cant do this again'... But, at least hes in professional hands(persay...they are not exactly going to be there all night)

i hope black jack is doing well, i couldnt sleep so i specifically looked to see if any thing had changed, praying he is fine, maybe he had a small belly ache? some horses are less pain tolerant than others...i will be looking again in few hours to see how he is doing.
