Growing Pains?

First, let me start out by saying that I do have the vet coming out this afternoon.

Is it possible for horses to have growing pains?

Olliver is almost 18 months old now. For the past two weeks he's been gimpy. Not really full on lame. Just off and looking uncomfortable in his fronts. Sometimes the left. Sometimes the right. Never three-legged hopping. I can find no swelling or heat in joints or tendons. Feet are cool. We have had lots of rain and mud. He is reluctant to hold up his right foot for very long when I pick his feet. Otherwise...there's nothing symptom-wise. The farrier was out 3 weeks ago (he's on a 4-week schedule with the farrier) so that was before th symptoms started, but the farrier measures his angles before and after trim to make sure we don't alter his angles. So, I've not been sure what to other than have the vet out.

The vet is meeting me at the barn at 3:30...but thought I'd get some input here first (Kanoo...where are you?)...

He is a Friesian/TB cross. Maintaining slow growth is a delicate, balancing act. He did just have his fall growth spurt. Trying to keep weight on him with winter coming, yet keep his growth slow is difficult at best.

Any advice or thoughts?

Thank you!

Jodi
