| Well it sounds like the same feed that I switched my horses to because of the higher fat content. as for getting weight on them I add one loaf of bread each feeding for extra calories. have been doing it for years, and my vet even suggests it to his other patients.

| My goats recently started to get bread. They became pretty chunky pretty quickly. The horses get a few pieces here and there because, well, they are already pretty chunky! If you build them up to it, they should be fine. Heck, a whole loaf is nothing for a big horse! I consider it almost straight carbs..... For the OP, I use SafeChoice. It's expensive, but it does everything I want so I don't have to feed much, which makes it cheaper in the long run. When evaluating a feed, I look at ingredients, fat percentage, fiber percentage, and protein percentage in that order.

Yes bread is amazing. My dad works for Rainbow Bread and he brings home pallets of Roman Meal bran. The stuff they mix into the roman meal bread. We gave a few bags to my friend for her gelding. The vet said it wouldnt hurt him so long as we dont over do it. The Arab gelding is close to his 30's and looks awful. Just skinny and dead looking. After feeding this for awhile he had meat on this bones and his coat was real shinny too!
