You know that you still have the prayers, sympathy, and support from the ducky-in-Kentucky family.

Lots of hugs for Jacques (and you) - and a big fat cookie for Jacques from us, too.

I hope everything thing turns out good with Jacques!!!

Just remember everything happens for a reason whether we like it or not. You have made his time with you one of comfort and love and horses are forgiving creatures so no matter what mistakes you think you have made they understand that you are trying your best. It is tough when you begin to second guess yourself so try to remember that you made that choice at that time for a reason and know that you are doing everything you can for Jacques.

Thanks again everyone ... brief update today is that he got his first treatment, and "he's doing fine." The doctor promised they'd call once a day to keep me updated.

I had a pony when I was younger that was part of a study of a chemotherapy drug that sounds very similar to this, (though because of my age at the time I do not know the name). She had a tumor on her right eyelid that the vet was certain would spread to the lymph nodes and brain rapidly. He offered to send her case in for review for the drug, and we tried it. Within a month or so, the tumor did begin to turn black and slough off. Stayed gone for several years, about 10 or so, recurred in her late 20s, but at that point was not as great a concern. Just wanted to add my well-wishes, and tell you that it can work- I've seen it!

Day 2, and the report is that the area has already started to dry up a bit (it has been a bit oozy) and turn black. Those are good signs!

I just loved hearing the doctor's Australian (?) accent when he said, "And he's emmm, starting to get a bit annoyed at being kept in the stall ... " So I giggled and thought to myself, "So, you've met the Clydemonster, then have you?"

So they are giving him Ace to calm him down. Cool beans, I so don't want anyone getting hurt!!!

Sounds like great news so far ... the tumor is responding as expected (hoped), and they say I can go pick him up on Saturday. Woo hoo!

They are going to give him the last treatment on Saturday morning, but think he'll be fine in the trailer afterwards, so early afternoon is when I'm planning to pick him up.

Yaaaaay!

Yay!!! That is great news!!!
So can you bring the doc with the darling accent home with you too?
For medical reasons, of course.

I have always really enjoyed your posts on Jaques (love the name) esp the whole soaking the foot thing (with a hydrophobic Clyde no less), learning to trim his feet and all.
I agree that another horse would have been easier, but I do beleive that people and animals come into our lives when we need them and there certainly was a lot to be learned from him
Glad to hear the positive reports, my prayers are with you for a good recovery

Lady M, keeping all crossables crossed for you and Jacques...glad to hear things are progressing well!

Jacques came into your life because he needed you...you have gone above and beyond what most people would do, or would even be able to consider doing, to save him and give him a good life...something good has to come from all you've been through, I absolutely refuse to consider otherwise!
