Looks like the Ultium that Jake gets now is at the top of the list... and I'm happy to say it really shows! I can see a big difference in him after just a couple weeks on it

How current is this list? I know some of the feeds listed have undergone forumla changes recently.

PeggySue 05-15-2009 02:53 PM

She has been gathering data for months on it so I can't answer that ...

Purina is always changing formula as well as Nutrena

jazzymonster 05-15-2009 06:12 PM

pretty interesting list, I'm going to print it out for my records. little confused on the some of the buckeye listings, it might just be out dated. not sure what growth sweet is (we don't carry any sweet feeds) I really like the NSC listings for when we are comparing different levels for our clients. sometimes it's a pain in the neck to try to find out other brand levels. still don't know why they just can't print it on the bag like buckeye does. but that's a horse of another color. thanks for the list!!!:D

jazzymonster 05-15-2009 06:13 PM

oh I wanted to add, you want calories, ultimate finish 100. that stuff is AMAZING;)

Might be the textured one if I remember right they offer pellets and textured or did anyway LOL

jazzymonster 05-15-2009 06:16 PM

no, we do have a growth tex, and it's listed, but so is the growth sweet. the growth tex is a LONG ways away from any sweet feed. most of buckeye feeds use very low if any molasses.

PeggySue 05-15-2009 06:19 PM

hmm I dunno then I will ask the person who put it together though and let you know LOL

May I ask you source, and Purina is always changing formula as well as Nutrena what verification you have of this information being correct?:?

PeggySue 05-15-2009 06:29 PM

Pruina and Nutrena REPS for the companies either on phone or in person

actually, unless the feed is a locked formula, it can change from time to time. we like to call them "least cost formula" or in other words, whatever is the cheapest at the time is used. this is where your by products fall into play. I would guess this would change calorie per pound and NSC levels

seerfarm 05-15-2009 06:31 PM

Would that be changing formulas, or the fact that they are not "Fixed" formulas?

And again....your source for the charts and calorie/NCS information?

Hmmmm....due you know the reason for not locking formula's and it isn't because of cost I assure you. ;)

PeggySue 05-15-2009 06:34 PM

Seer can you not read I said it was posted somewhere else and that I quoted it??

if you have such a problem with me just don't bother ... everytime you think I should just take what you say

Jazzy is saying same thing on formulas but you just ignore that ...

hmm the person who posted this spent MONTHS calling and emailing and getting this information from the companies ...

PeggySue 05-15-2009 06:36 PM

Seer I find it odd that your information does not match anything I have found in YEARS of research of Univ and other sites NOT related to feed companies but you want to argue it ...

Horselady44 05-15-2009 06:37 PM

Thats really intresting and useful. Gives ya an idea anyway even if they have changed alil. THANKS

jazzymonster 05-15-2009 06:38 PM

well I don't know personally the reason, but I would say cost is a major factor. why wouldn't you just guarantee the best ingredients in feed? I have done research on a lot of by products, and some of them don't even have any nutritional value, but are pretty much fillers. we even found one by product ingredient that was basically crushed rock. doesn't that sound yummy? LOL :laughing6: I do know some companies can not lock formulas because of the grain mills they use. when they are rotating between different feeds including different stock (cow or horse), they are unable to guarantee the ingredients will be the same from bag to bag.

I would say changing formulas. different by products are going to have different nutritional levels. you start changing the nutritional levels and that would technically be changing the formula. if you are using different ingredients, then the formula is not the same. it is different.
