Hanna's turn!

Okay everyone along the East Coast of Fla. Keep on your toes.
So far it is going to run up the East Coast and come in somewhere between Jacksonville and Charleston. So everyone up that way stay safe. Jules it could come right over you. They say it may turn wants it hits landfall and shoot up to the Carolinas.

I am watching...it will depend on how large she gets. We live on very high ground, and not much in the way of trees ontop of us, so unless it looks like she will turn directly inland we will stay put.

Maxx, you know you are welcome here. I now have two new paddocks that are full of grass as well as the other two full of grass. You, Hubby, pups and horses are all welcome!

Our local news just said depending on her speed to the West, will depend when she will turn North. The further West she goes, the further South she will hit on the east coast. They showed WPB up to N. Carolina in the cone.

Like we all know, tracks change on every update, so its still waaay to early to tell.

TD Ike, is just heading due west into the Carribean.

My name is Hanna, spelled the exact same way...my mom joked they named it after me when I got mad at out boarder.

Man, you guys in the south are getting pummeled. Stay safe, and good luck.

Well, the track didn't change since last night. The only good thing about HANNAH is that we are all on the west side of the storm which is the weakest. So, if there is any plus, to Hannah, that would be it.

Well, since Hanna has decided to spend some time backpeddling to the south, that puts everyone from Miami up to North Carolina in her path. Then we have Ike following on her heels and the Josephine! Guess we are gonna be busy, and wet for a while!

Man I hate this hurricane stuff

It could come right at us, not to mention the others coming along...sigh. We did just get a horsetrailer, but I would have no idea where to go, we are new to trailering I don't even know how horses deal with getting trailerd in the heat, stuck on the interstate for hours...

Is there some kind of webpage that lists barns that allow overnighters by state or city?

All this, and I'm supposed to go to Germany too, because my grandma is doing very badly. sigh

Well, its obvious they are expecting Hanah to go further west b/4 her northern turn. I am in SW Fla and in the cone with the 8pm update. SE/SW Fla wasn't even in the cone this morning !!!!!!

At least the forecasts are getting really good. They pinned Gus dead on.
Good luck with Hannah guys-too far away to help you.

Not to minimize anything, but all the news keeps talking about is Gustav still, they only give a little blurb about Hannah here and there. I think that the priority should be Hannah now as it is imminent. I am in the forecast cone and need that information readily available.

Well, this morning has Hannah down to a Cat 1 at landfall, just North of us around Charleston still on the cone center...will have to see what today and tomorrow brings. Looks like landfall late Friday or early Sat AM.

Here is a thread w/ some links

http://forum.horsetopia.com/random-s...ons-sites.html

The key to evacuating horses is to get them out EARLY enough so you DO NOT sit in the traffic.

Prepare and act early is the key.

As you can see, HT opens their farms up to everyone in need of evacuating. Alot of the big state parks and fair grounds also open up their stalls for evacuees.

This is something you need to look into before you need to evacuate so you are prepared. Make sure you bring enough food and stuff for your horses. Plus vet/shot records in case you have to cross state lines. Health certificates are good to have on hand, but in most cases, due to large evac that is the only time they don't check that at the state line. <Fla>

Also at the begining of each hurricane season, numerous counties have hurricane prep classes for horses. Something to look into for next year.

If anyone needs to evacuate Hanna and wants to come to the Atlanta area, feel free to come here!
People and small animals can bunk here, and there is a great place for the horses to stay right down the road.
PM me if you want more information.

I don't think me and you need to worry as much about Hannah......look at IKES path !!!

They said we won't feel any effects from Hannah here in SW Fla.

I don't think we are going to get to much from Hanna either.
They said when she goes by here she will be moving fast and they are predicting only about 2 inches of rain. Of course our beaches will feel it and we are already flooded so 2 inches will make a difference.

How come she will be moving fast then? She hasn't moved fast since she formed. I am concerned about Ike though. We really do not need any more rain from any of them right now.
