Possible adopting an exracer TB

Thinking of adopting an exracer TB gelding. He is beautiful and has been retrained and has been doing some level 1 dressage. I have never owned a TB. Some some advise of things I might have never thought of...He is beautiful I would have decided to sell my QH we just don't click. Been trying for a year and it has been clear to me the last few days.....

What do you think here he is

He's stunning!

I say go for it.. have you gone to try him out? If he's a great fit after you try him out then why not.. it's a great thing to do, plus he's already trained.

I agree with southriversales. Try him out, if he works then great!
I own a TB (bay with a star ) and she is very level-headed, and knows level 1 or 2 dressage. She's an absolute doll, I adore her. So I say go for it.

After reading what you posted about your lesson..this sounds like it may be the right thing. I had an OTTB but not retrained like this one..I was young too, bad mistake. He did teach me things. But this TB your looking at is gorgeous!! And it is retrained. After that experience with him, and seeing my friends TB, I promised myself never to buy a thoroughbred! Haha but I rode a great lesson horse who was a TB and I think they are a beautiful breed, with a lot of heart! I say go look at him but when you try him out ride him more than once. Make sure its EXACTLY what you want, I say take your time and dont rush the buying process!! Good luck.

He looks LOVELY!!! I say go for it. Dot is an OTTB, and I've worked with countless others, and have never, ever, ever regretted it. They are wonderful athletes, are used to the strangest environments, and have a fantastic work ethic. Sounds like he has made a good career transition, and is ready to move on. From the picture, you'll need to work him through his back, so that he can learn to drive with his rear end, but once he gets those muscles built up you'll have a SPECTACULAR horse. He has a great look about him, and looks very kind, and in my book that counts for 90%.

I am trying not to get excited but that is about impossible. He is in NJ and I am in TN yet I am willing to go ride him. He has a look that I can get out of my head. Someone tell me how crazy this is..... My trainer thinks I am crazy I am sure.

I say go for it. Make a weekend of it. Just make sure before making the trip that this rescue allows horses out of state.
