Sticky Faces and Legs

I went down to the barn today and the horses' faces and legs were covered in what I think are those little black sticky grass seeds. Crystal is already starting to get fuzzy and shed so I was able to brush them off her face along with the hair fuzz. The problem came when I tried to get the nasty sticky stuff off one of the other horse's face that wasn't all fuzzy and off their legs. The stuff is like little dots of glue! I can't brush them out or anything! Anyone know of a quick easy way to get them off or prevent them?
thanks tons!

I have never heard of such a thing! I suppose mowing the pasture would prevent them from getting more stuff stuck to them, but I have no idea what makes them stick like that. Does warm water help? What about mild make up remover wipes or baby wipes?

Do you have alot of Bahlia grass? Once the grass gets up high and goes to seed there are alot of black seeds at the top, probably about knee high. Once the horse lowers his head to graze he gets it on his face. Evening and morning dew on the grass make them stick to everything.

Also remember, that grass once nipped and grazed on will release its sugars as it starts to regrow...could explain for the stickies.

I have some Bahlia mix in my yard, and my white pup comes in daily with them stuck all over him, kinding makes you think he got out and was flea infested!

Mine dont have seeds on them but their face and legs are sticky. We have only mowed the pastures 3 times this yr. and we do need to now but its so dry we are afraid of killing all grass. We are already feeding some hay here.Of course hubby had time to mow is pasture for the cows.
