What a great idea. I have to have one built soon. I sure would like to see some ideas. Need a good sturdy one that can stay out in the field and withstand the gulf coast winds and rain!

Here's my recently completed run-in. It's an Eagle Carport. The front part is 12x18 and the back section for hay, grain, tack, etc. is 8x18. We're still tweaking it here and there but it seems to be working out great so far.

I just had to show a few pictures of what was "Formerly" my Run In Shed.
I have been so pleased with how it turned out.
It started as a 24X24 Run In shed, and then, with some professional help and MANY MORE$$, it turned into a fully enclosed barn.
The end thats facing us, with the dutch doors was the back/north side, and it was open to the south. Then, I added one stall, then 2nd stall, then added the rest, meaning the middle w/ the cupola, and the opposite (same run in style) side.

Thanks for letting me show it off a bit, Redboy

Thanks, rm185wester. It just goes to show the UNLIMITED potential of the run in shed. Its great to have, and it was easy to add on to.
I just kinda outgrew my run in b/c of ALL the STUFF I had accumulated thru years of horse ownership. I needed more storage space Redboy

This thread is perfect timing for me.
Last weekend, we started on our run in shed. Our idea started as being: 12 W x 36 L x 15 H. Then we decided to make it 18 W x 45 L x 15 H. Last Sunday we changed it to be 18 W x 54 L x 15 H. So, on Monday night hubby comes home and tells me we should make it a normal building..just keep going w/ it. After some discussion, hubby has in his mind the idea like that Redboy has done- so it's neat to see someone else's that worked out!
We are not done, but I will try to post a photo of what we've accomplished so far...

We're in the process of building a 16X36. 24' of run-in and 12' of storeage. No pictures yet, they're just setting the posts.

I put up regular metal gutter, like you would on your house.
And, yes, it is flexible tubing at the bottom. Actually, it was a friend of ours that hangs siding for a living who did it for me, and I was more concerned about the wind ripping it off than anything else, so I asked him to make sure that he added extra screws, or whatever he used to attach it with, so as to keep that from happening.
We didn't have any snow last year, so I hope that isn't a problem.
There is a bit of pitch to that roof, hopefully it melt away and will be okay.
Never thought about snow, at all, actually.
Usually IF we get snow, it's not much and it doesn't stick around too long.
I had begun to get such a MUCK problem in front of my stall doors that I had to do something. It was becoming a real problem b/c the overhang is only about 1 1/2 foot, and it would run straight down and was washing away my dirt, and with Red coming and going, it was turning into a big hole. YUCK!
If I had known when I first built the run in, that it would ultimately turn into a fully enclosed barn, I would have designed certain things differently.
For one, I would have had more pitch, and I would have had more overhang also.
But, all in all, BOTH building designs have served their purposes PERFECTLY!
for me, and it worked well with my finances at the time also.
