Finally... Jake pics with SADDLE lol..

Okay, I know I have had a few of you waiting for way to long to see pics of Jake and I with saddle pics... So I know it's only 1 pic and it's not the best shot... but hey, beggers can't be choosers right?

Anyhow... Here's Jake and I... So does the saddle make us look anymore evened out?

He's getting taller and widder, I can tell a difference everytime I get on him..

Ps. This saddle doesn't sit right on him, and it is supposed to be full quarter horse bars... Anyone have any suggestions on that? The swells just sit on top of him... they don't "craddle" him at all... I'm kinda lost on what to do there...

You need a better pad instead of that little saddle rug. You look fine on him though. Yes you do look kind of tall on him, but that is way different than being too big for him.

PS...my legs hang down even further than yours on my horse

Hey that looks better, now I think you look great. I agree with Iwas, a nice thick pad would look better under the saddle. Good luck with fitting him, it's a nightmare when they're changing shape

Yes, I agree that you need a nice wool pad under that saddle. Aside from that, you'll have to get some closer pics of the saddle from the side, front, and back before others can judge the fit.

As far as your size is concerned, you are not too big to ride him. You are tall, but you're not heavy and he is a sturdy-looking little guy, so he should handle you fine.

He is filling out nicely Cascy - and you do look great on him..

I'm half scared to put a thicker pad on him, he's not got much for withers at all and I think a thicker pad might make the problem worse

I have another saddle on order that I hope will fit him better, then i can have my better pad on him as well...

Thanks for your compliments and hope ya'll are not sick of seeing my boy yet

Maybe a cut out pad? Woud that work on him? He is still gorgeous and you and him look good together.

If it a thick fleece cheapy, then yes, it would make the problem worse.
A nice wool pad would not compromise the saddle fit (assuming the saddle is the right size). No saddle should be thrown off by a proper pad, unless the saddle did not fit the horse in the first place. Weaver makes a nice wool pad under $60, I believe. Otherwise, I think there were some on the tack swap. Mod. Beth had a some nice ones at one point, you may want to ask her.

Have you already taken pictures of the saddle without the pad? If so, have you already posted them? If not, I would definately consider it. This way you can find out if the saddle is fitting properly in the first place..

ETA: Ok, I just looked at your photo again. Personally I think a round skirt saddle with a rounded pad would work best for him, since he has a short back.

You look good on Jake Cascy! Once he finishes growing you two will be perfect together.
