Oak Bedding?

Has anyone ever heard anything bad about oak bedding? I've only used pine or cypress. I have a chance to get some for free.

Maybe you could ask your vet if he or she knows of any problems with the oak shavings.

Black Walnut is bad as the toxins are absorbed thro the hoof. Never heard anything bad about oak or any others.

Oak bedding is fine, but it will turn black when wet.

Black Walnut is toxic to horses.

I think you just need to make sure there is no other hardwood shavings mixed in...that would depend on how you're getting it...
