Hey jesspost, welcome to HT! And yeah, I hear ya. I still give money to a woman who ran a rescue much the same way. Wonderful, wonderful woman with a much bigger heart than her bank account could support.

I'm afraid though that there are/have been/will continue to be horses that languish in pastures and that don't get a chance at an auction. If horses were processed into food in a humane way, if they were transported in a humane way, then that would be a better fate than starvation.

I wish that we all had bank accounts to match our desires, but for now we'll do the best that we can to support organizations like the one TDH showed us.

Bless us all, because in our own individual ways we are trying to help each other care for our horses and horses without owners to find one

for those that can not help by taking in a horse maybe could offer their services as an inspector of facilities in a certian radius of where they live. like maybe as an example I could do southern Ohio and so on. I am going to talk with the wife we maybe able to take in one at a time I am sure anything will help.

Like you said myboyjake, MHARF in Zimmerman, MN and the Minnesota Horse Council looks for folks to inspect and certify stables. Not exactly rescue related but is still looking out for a horse's welfare. Perhaps preventing abuse and neglect, huh? And then if not adoption, there are always a need for foster parents.
