If you are just doing some light clipping a pair of cordless Wahl or Oster's will do you for simplicity. Check out Jeffer's or Country Supply and find a pair in the $30.00 to $40.00 range as those will work great for quite a while. You can get Oster, Wahl and Andis blades at a Sally Beauty Supply. You can also get a cheap set from them that will keep up a bridle path and whiskers for quite a while in the $30.00 range. The three previously mentioned are all good (everyone has a favorite, mine is Wahl). The biggest thing with clippers is to oil and clean them according to the manual and to not leave them in the barn. The moisture will rust the blades. Hope this helps!

I have the Oster rechargeables with 2 heads-they are 5 years old and doing great still. I even body clip with them.
I will never be tied down to corded clippers again

I just bought Oster cordless pro clip at Petsmwart for a shade under $50. They seem great! They wouldn't handle a body clip, but okay for fetlocks, bridle paths, ears and whiskers.

In one of the horsey type magazines they also sell rebuilt clippers for cheaper then their orignial price. The two that I have had have lasted years for me. I can't remember where I came across them though, I'll have to think about it for a little.
