Anyone have an electric rope braid pasture?

I am interested in your views on it.

I am sold on it! My plans are to replace all of my 1/2 inch electric tape with it.

My girlfriend has it and it was the only thing that wasn't destroyed when the tornado came through her place and took her barn and riding arena.

She keeps two studs there with the electro braid seperating them. She has yet to have a problem.

She and her husband said that it was really easy to install and there is zero maintenance. She loves it and it looks great!

We have it at the top of one of the old paddocks. In some ways I love it; it is very easy to install, and low maintenance, but I did find that extreme weather would weight it down (snow) or take it off the insulators, so I think the key to using the stuff properly is to get the proper insulators, and put them at least every 12 feet.

I have found that elector braid fence doesn't hold a charge as well. Has anybody else had this problem?

As I run mine off of a charger by battery - the more of it I use the less it wants to carry current - sooo - I added some tinsil wire here and there connecting the strands (I have three). The tinsil is a conductor so it adds stronger current to the electra. Also make sure the electra is not being shorted out by something, somewhere - off an insulator, weeds, etc.

Love it Love it Love it..so far any way. We switched most of our 60 acre pasture to it & all of our paddock runs. We did opt to use the 2" tape on the top for visibility purposes. None of our horses had been under hot fence before , my my did they learn quickly. I have only been zapped twice, guess I don't learn as quick as them . We haven't had enough snow this year to test the sag theory, thanks for the heads up.

I didn't mind the electric braid until the day Mr. Spook got all tangled in it. I had him turned out for the day as I was cleaning his stall and the other kids' stalls and I walked out finishing his stall looked over all was good. Mr. Hyper was playing like mad in his turnout. I finished the last stall a couple hours later, looked over to see him with one back leg up and the fencing torn down. He had given himself burns and scraps with the fence. I took one look at him as he hid by the gate and brought him in. A week or two later he was no longer sore on that back leg but his halter career ended that day. If he would have been a calmer horse I'm sure I wouldn't have had that problem but Brat isn't and never has been.

braid

I am planning on trying electric braid this year when I build my pasture. A guy I talked to said he used a solar charger and felt the fence would last about 9 years. He had a huge 16.5 horse that apparently respects it very well. I don't know if I will use at least 1 board for visibility or not, since I do have some boards that I picked up at an auction.
It is cheaper than some of the other options, at $30 - $40 for 656 feet.

I use it for the bottom strand in most of my pastures, but have one area with it on top and bottom. I have one little pony who runs right through electric fences, but the rest of them have not. Needless to say, he's in a pasture by himself with mesh fencing.

I use it with a solar charger and have good success with it.

I LOVE it! the braided rope electric fencing has saved my blind mare several times from getting hurt.
It absorbs 4000 pounds of pressure and the snaps back like a huge rubber band. This rope has copper running inside as well so she could smell it.
I can't say enough about how well it worked! My mare and gelding are now safe and secure I wouldn't have wood or anything else again!!!!
