Hey guys,
A friend of mine told me about the string test, and I was wondering if anybody else has heard of it, or used it and if so, do you believe it.
For those of you who don't know what it is, it's where you take a string, and place it on the coronet band of your horses front leg, and place it against the leg up to the middle of their knee. Then measure the string and how ever many inches long it is from the coronet to the knee, that's the height that your horse should finish at.
My friend did it on her Shire/TB when she got him as a yearling and his was correct, Ruggy's is correct, Classy's is saying she should be about 16hh which makes sense, but now my new baby CaNiya, hers is saying she should be 18!! Sooo... I don't know if it is true now, lol. Her sire is only 15.2hh and her dam is 16.3 sooo... but she is big. The farrier was out the other day and he was shocked, he said her pasterns are already much longer than Classy's (Classy is 2 1/2, CaNiya is 5 months). Another friend said she has seen TB yearlings her size and as I said, she is only a weanling.
So let me know what you think
