Coggins question.

Can somebody tell me if a photo copy of a current and new Coggins test would be sufficient if going to a trail ride or horse show that requires a current Coggins? My vet told me that she mailed it to me but I have not received the one that I usually receive. Any info would be appreciated.

It should be fine.
Usually, any organized trail rides that I have gone on,
ask for a 'copy' of a current coggins test, not the original document.
I'm not sure about horse shows, but they are probably the same.
My best advice, call and ask the organizers of whatever event you are attending, just to be sure.
Have fun!

Most places need to see original, but with the internet and e-mailing of coggins that should fine, in NY we also need rabies stamp with the coggins .

It depends. I would call wherever you are trailriding and ask. I have been to places where you HAVE to have the origional, and others a photocopy was fine.

Last time I went camping I had cleaned out the truck and took all the papers in the house. Got there and... no... coggins... Thank goodness they let my dad fax them over. I never forget stuff like that...

Around here copies are fine. I make several for the year. I put one in the glovebox of the truck, one in my show bag and one in my purse. So if I leave one at the secretary stand and forget and leave without it, I have a backup on hand for the next event.

Silly, I know but trust me I've gotten to places and realized that I forgot it and had to have someone run it over. One place won't even let me take the horse off the trailer until it was produced.

I keep the orignal with all the important papers in the house.
