It's Good To Be Alive.

A good friend of ours ended her life last week. Those of us who knew her now have a new appreciaton for God's greatest gift, the ability to wake up and greet another beautiful day. I get to go outside, breath country air, the barn cats winding around my legs, a grinning lab dog charges me full tilt to get her ears scratched, horses whinnying from thier paddock, all kinds of birds singing for all they're worth, the sound of the wind in the trees...
I could go on and on but basically... life is good.
What all makes your life special?

Hearing my old gelding nicker at me every morning on my way to feed him his pellets.

Sorry about your friend. Suicide is tough to deal with.

Oh that's so sad How awful for your friend that she was going through such a hard time. And very sad for the ones she left behind.

I feel so appreciative every time I go outside in the early morning, and the mist on the fields is a pinky grey, and all is calm and peaceful. Then my gelding comes over to me and lets me breathe in his wonderful scent as he curls his neck around me for a hug.

Finding a man who, while never having had horses himself, totally lets me run with my passion for them.

Im so sorry to hear about your friend. What a hard thing to do with. (((HUGS TO YOU)))

Life is good here as well. Financially its been tough...car problems...there are things that are not as good...but the great things make up for everything

Trail riding in the mountians in Montana...is priceless...it takes your breath away...even me living here for 18 years I still get my breath taken away. Words just cannot describe the scenery.
Being able to have my horses in good health and myself is also great. When you go out on a ride and your horse listens to the peak(I had that today) is a great feeling. Just spending the day grooming and loving on your horse. Having a nice deep breath of Montana Mountian Morning Air. I just love it hear. LIFE IS GOOD

I feel very sorry to hear of your friend, it is so sad to hear of someone being so disraught that they find the only way out of the pain is to end their life, life can really be hard sometimes.

There are many things that I am grateful for, little things often, probably most of all is that I have my health ( mental and physical ) I see, have known, and often experience everyday through work and/or life, people who whether born disabled, or become that way through various accidents, that have sometimes severe disabilities, and often they still have wonderful dispositions even when terribly afflicted, it makes me quite grateful to be able to function in a whole capacity, that has got to be my #1.

I am very sorry to hear about your friend. The husband of a good friend of mine tried to end his life 2 weeks ago. He survived the attempt, but now they are faced with many years of therapy.
I am grateful for my husband, children, family, friends, and being able to have my 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 3 horses.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I hope her friends and loved ones realize she was ill. My husband's nephew committed suicide before we even new each other. Steve is buried in the same cemetery as my two children. So the first year we were together I told Brian we needed to go to the cemetery. He had such a hard time with it due to the fact that he still carried the old Catholic believe that you would never go to heaven if you committed suicide. I had to remind him that Steve had to me mentally ill the day he took his life... healthy minds do NOT take their own lives.....He finally came to peace with Steve's death after many years.

I am thankful that I was able to share my granddaughter and her mommy's lives even if it was such a short time and that when they were taken to heaven 11-14-03 that my youngest granddaughter was left behind for me to cherish in more than just beautiful memories. I am also very grateful for the rest of my family... Life would not be as joyous as it is without my own beautiful 13 yr old oops that is my biggest pride and joy!

I remember, as a very young boy growing up in Pennsylvania, a news cast of a group of coal miners who had survived a cave-in. They stood in front of the camera, faces still grimy and black, and sang a song together. I think this was my first impression that life is fleeting, and should be appreciated.
Yesterday my teenage daughter went with me to get a load of hay. We had lunch on the way there, sang country music to the radio on the way back.
Life is good.

That's horrible, so sorry for the loss.

When filled with horses, friends, family, dogs, cats, nature, and God, how can I not appreciate my life?
I'm very blessed.

Don't let this tragedy dampen your spirit. We do not know why a person would do this sometimes but you must go on and like you said enjoy the everyday things that delight you. In every moment one can look around and see things to appreciate. Even the feeling of sadness and loss is something to be thankful for because you still have the ability to move past it and live and love life. So sorry for the one that could not. Rest in Peace to them.

Having my daughter still with us. (She tried to commit suicide 3 months ago.) Watching her and her daughter snuggled up it dad's chair yesterday watching a movie together.

Seeing my new foal prance around the pasture when I first let her out of the barn.

My son was not happy with me for getting a foal. He wanted me to get a ride able horse. So he refused to go to the barn to see her and I didn't push the issue. He disappeared a few days ago and hubby asked if I had seen him. I said he's probably out hunting. A while later our son shows up with this big grin on his face. He had been down to the barn petting my new foal.

Waking up every morning (when my kids are with me) and seeing the biggest smile on my daughters' face when she opens her eyes and sees me (yep we still sleep together ). Having my son come and kiss me on the forhead at night when I have gone to bed before him cuz I have to work the next morning and can't see them off to school.

Nothing compares to that and since the loss of the 3 teens on Fathers day to a drunk driver and another 2 two weeks ago in a plane crash, I appreciate them more and thank whatever whomever gave them to me, every day.
