Can anyone trace this freeze brand?

I purchased a gorgeous thin zebra dun qh mare at auction on May 15th. She walks, trots, canters, neck reins, trail rides... was told she also barrel races and jumps. She was stiff in the hind end when I purchased her, so I've had her on pasture rest since the auction.

I was told she was 10 years old, but my vet a few days later thinks she is 20.

Just brought her home last weekend from my boarding facility and I have her on Blue Seal's Vintage Performance (12% fat extruded) twice a day - 5 pounds am and 5 pounds pm. So I can't wait to see her fat and all around healthy again.

But she has a O H freeze brand on her left hip... I was hoping someone knows where she originally came from. (Is hoping to get pedigree info or something).

Pictures just taken yesterday July 3rd, please excuse the stupid house flies. She has no white at all on her face, so I didn't want to remove the fly mask. She also has a ton of small scars all over her body.

Her name at the auction was Sugar... we changed it to Carmel (as in the wrong written word of Caramel candy ).

Brands are registered by the Agriculture Dept in the state where the horse is branded. www.cowboyshowcase.com/brands has a very good database to track down brands. You might also try the Net Posse website or horsereunions.com.

Unfortunately after going through all the sites... I am not willing to buy all 30+ individual books to just search one brand.

Netposse didn't have her description, though I suppose I could post her brand on there.

Thank you!

I think you can call the state agriculture departments and request a list of the brands they have registered. When I was doing mine the Va Department sent me a whole list free of charge. Maybe other states can do that too.
