How to save limes?

My neighbor gave me a box of limes does anybody know just how I can save them? Can you freeze them whole?

Thanks
Karen

I think they'd turn black and to mush if you froze them.

What about canning the segments? They are acidic enough to just do a hot water bath.

Juice them and save the juice in the freezer. You can pour the juice into ice cube trays-freeze then pop them into a freezer bag.

No good if you freeze them. You could either juice them, or put them in a ziplock bag and store in the fridge. Should last for a couple of weeks??

Drink lots of Margarita's

This is the best idea!!!! Actually I think I will juice them and freeze. I don't like to can and it's been in the high 90's/100's.....my kitchen has been almost unbearable for the last week canning isn't gonna happen.

You can zest them and put the zest into containers to freeze and then juice them. I always freeze the juice in ice cube trays and then bag them in the freezer. Easy to take out just what you need that way.

How about some daquiris? Try blending them up and freezing them in containers. Lime juice, sugar and some good white rum. Can't think of a better use for extra limes and a bottle of rum, especially if your kitchen is so hot! Yummy!

Wash them really good and wipe them with mineral oil, store in the bottom drawer in your fridge. That's how the grocery strores keep them. They'll last several weeks to months that way.

I may do that too but with all the suggestions Iam getting thirsty and really like Rivers idea......Captian Morgan he is a friend of mine . Thankfully my kitchen has cooled down a lot we put two window air conditioners in , one on the porch by the kitchen the other in the living room. I don't know what my problem is with the heat this year Wednesday I had a migrane and Friday I got sick to my stomach couldn't hardly get out of bed. Nope not pregnant, I've been spayed so that should not even be an issue. Just got over my cycle, my sister says Iam getting older and thats part of the problem...gonna be 40 in a week or so. Iam thinking maybe it has something to do with all my body changes that have been going on. My menapause issues have really changed this year...see I do need the Captian and some limes

Uh, you have no idea what it's like to have hot flashes while living in FL. My hubby, in an effort to save a little money, decided to bump up the thermostat a couple of degrees. Needless to say, that didn't fly. Menopause also makes me a little grouchy and intolerant!

I think I'll go get some limes to go with the rum in my cupboard and have a little pity party tonight!

Yep, I do. We spent about 2 weeks down there 2 years ago it was horrid just horrid. The days were hotter than heck and the nights I froze my butt off....unfortunatly not really but man was I cold! In Michigan if it's 100 in the daytime it's 95 at nite, at least in August when we were there. When we left Michigan that year it was in the 105-110 range, Florida for those two weeks were much cooler. Of course being Florida in August we never thought to pack more than I think one pair of slacks.

My husband tried closing the windows for a very short time in the middle of winter. I told him if you are so hot in January that your eyelids are melting then the window needs to be open. We comprimised he shut the window and when he wasn't looking I opened the one behind the TV Took him most of the winter to figure out why the bedroom was so cold

When I lived in CT I had the bedroom window cracked a couple of inches, right by my head. My husband hought I was nuts. The only bad part was when it snowed and I'd step in it getting out of bed. Yowza!

Don't forget that you can make lime pie. Just like lemon, except use lime juice.
