I use mine to tie plants to trellises - but we use the green biodegradeable kind. I'm not sure what I would do with the red plastic stuff.

my dad's tank heater for the cattle is heated by a fire.. so we give all of ours to his to use in the burner. Might not be the best recycling away but he saves electricity.

Since someone broke the frame to my barn door (and I know your reading this, no names mentioned ) with the strong winds we are having it's keeping my door shut.

Oooh, oooh...I have one. I made it into a halter. I forgot one of mine and needed to tie a horse up- so I grabbed two pieces (square bail size), tied a couple of knots, and voila- an instant "rope" halter.

Crochetted or braided into a rug, they last almost forever!

You can make a free haynet if you cut the twine right at the knot. They are rather small but make nice emergency nets.

emergency tie ropes

We use square bale hay string by taking 6 strands and braiding them (2 strands in each braid) and by leaving a loop at the end, you can run the other end thru it. We use these to tie up gates, fences, horses..whatever. By using 6 stings it seems to make the braids stronger and bigger. (we used to know an old feller that would braid them and then sell them for $1 each)

Used baling twine is especially good for:

Wrapping itself around lawn mower blades in the summer

frozen into the snow it makes great little snares when one is slogging thru snow carrying water buckets or bales

emergency lead ropes/halters

tieing up plants to trellises

fixing stuff

zipper pull on my barn boots when the tab breaks thru

creating gordian knots when saved to use for fixing stuff

My saddle bags are tied on with baling twine. Pretty high class.

Great for emergencies on trail...broken reins or girth straps. Also good for tieing loose leather flaps on saddles. Never mind when you need a belt...don't ask it's a long story.

Baling twine can have many uses.

-Quick fix for broken fencing(tying the broken, knocked down rails back together)till you can get it fixed properly
-broken latches on doors can be tied shut with it
-use for hanging bucket, horse toys etc in the stall
-Quick fix for certian tack when it gets broken if you can't replace it/have it fixed right away
- or if your crafty or just get bored and like doing things to pass the time you can always make lead lines and halters by braiding several pieces together

As mentioned before... it makes great reins/lead ropes. I had extra snaps so just braided the length that I needed. Worked great.

I tied together two ends of a hog panel to make a round bale feeder. Wrapped it with a lot of twine so the horses wouldn't get poked.

I have used it as an emergency shoe lace, belt and pony tail holder.

It also holds my barn door open so that the wind can't slam it shut.

Using 4 hemp twines from square bales I fold them in half and half again and tie a single knot. Makes a great grooming whisk when the horses are shedding using the ends. The knot makes for a great massage as well.

Ummm, I make nifty bracelets out of them, along with a lot of cool woven decorations....I also have them as (temperary) screws on tack.

They also make good for blocking off areas

You know I just saw this really pretty rug at Target for alot of money. I told my sister who was with me it felt like bailing twine. Maybe I should try it.

I use it to tie my buckets to the fence at feeding time. Keeps the horses from being able to tip their buckets or dump them over.

Also used for tying gates shut, tying panels together for extra support. Use them as markers[half buried] for my barrel racing barrels and poles.

Training forks!

Cheap tie downs, if yours breaks when you are about to run at a show!
