PaintsQH DABF?? this one made me laugh I have got bailing twine stuck in my lawnmower too many times I know how frustrating it can be, but it's ever worse when it's the neighbors throwing theirs over the fence into my yard

We use baling twine for darn near everything around here. I braided up short pieces, added a snap, and voila, trailer ties. I braided 16 strands in a 4 strand braid to make cross ties and lead ropes.
We also use it for, tying gates shut, tying buckets up, temporary fence fix till I get out there with the stretchers, even a braided twine gate to fool the horses into thinking that an electric rope gate was there.
I have also made hay nets and halters, although the halters I made required that the twine be braided first.
An old cowboy once told a few freinds and myself that he'd like to braid it into a lariat. His reason, "It's always catchin' somethin". Boy, did he ever have that right.

My husband used baling twine to tie the mailbox onto the post.

My chickens have decided it makes a good nesting material as they are laying their eggs on a pile of twine.

It was hot and I had to rake hay and there is no way to take a water bottle with me so I used the twine to make me a water bottle holder on the tractor.

We keep a wad of twine in the truck we use to get square bales of hay.
Works great to tie down the top and back rows when you have no tailgate.

Get a 3 foot section of PVC piping, tie the ends of 2 pieces of baling twine together and run one end through piping. Then tie twine to bars on stall or nail on door or stall front and you have a blanket holder!! I actually found a piece of PVC piping so my current blanket holder was free except for the bale of hay!

I heard Martha Stewart is going to do a segment on twine for a show this week--she'll probably use it in a sculpture or bridal bouquet or something!

Tote Bags

My mother asked me to save all of the twine for her and she is knitting a tote bag that she heard about on one of the DIY stations. She is using the ornage stuff so that it will be waterpoof and it is turning out pretty neat looking. Will make a great beach bag as it won't matter if it gets wet and if it gets sandy you can just hose it off.

Hubby chuckled and told me I had to tell you all about my new use for baling twine. Sometimes it's the simple things in life that strike his funny bone. I wanted to hang one of those sticky fly papers you know the one that you thumbtack to the ceiling. I strung some twine and tied it to the loop in the fly paper. That way I could hang it at the height I wanted. Oops I hung it over a stall door. Now I have sticky flies falling on me, yuck! Any lower and I'd be wearing it in my hair. But the trap was full in no time.

It is light and easy to carry, so I use it for quick tack fixes on the trail. I think the stuff is only second to duct tape!

Wow lots of great ideas I think I'll see if the boys will do some of the halters, leads and hay nets. They can use them for a recycle project at our fair!

Good idea on the halter, so I decided to give it a try. I wanted it a bit stronger so I braided it and then braided the braids. Here is how it turned out.

Wait til you see my next twine project, as soon as I can get a picture I will post it.

Had to laugh because I just used it last week to tie my daughters spurs on. Took off the leather to clean and forgot them at home. She just thought mom was nuts but it worked. Not pretty but funtional.

I got a redneck one. I had a dog given to me that would eat everything. She had one of those snap together plastic doghouses, and she ate the clips off it. So I took lots of twine, and fastened the top and bottom to the doghouse together like it was a giant present I was wrapping with a bow.

It worked until I was able to get her a much better doghouse that she wouldn't eat.

My husband had the leather, but was having problems keeping his spurs down.
So he hooked some baling string under his heel and tied it to both sides of the spur. The spurs didn't pop up anymore.

We also use baling string to tie sponsor banners to the rail at our local Team Penning shows.
