Ranch Horse Shows

Anybody do them? My sister is getting very involved and is trying to take me down with her.

I just don't know anything about them, but there is a barn in the Lexington area that is putting on quite a few.

The American Ranch Horse Association has a web site. Apparently it was formed by folks that were sick of the horses that were placing in the regular breed shows. This group wants to promote a more useful animal and not the peanut rollers and ticks that show halter. I know that the regular breed shows are trying to get away form it, but I still have doubts about the horses I have seen winning halter classes.

They want a clean horse, but no shine and little clipping. No silver and fancy expensive cloths. They are trying to keep showing affordable and promote the nice horses that many of us have, but can't compete with and the giant shows. It might be a nice place to show my solid mare.

I was just wondering more specifics about classes. They are having one next weekend at this barn.

sounds like fun...is it the near the horse center in lexington? thats the only place i'm familiar with there in lexington

It is right off the interstate at the Steeles Tavern exit, I can get you directions if you are interested. Its actually closer to Staunton than Lexington.
