What a weekend! Duncan Lake Trail Ride

Just wanted to let you guys know there will be a trail ride at Duncan Lake on April 26-27th. I have the flyer at home and phone numbers to call for any questions. My mom and dad and I will be going over to ride. No shoes required. It will be a pretty easy ride. Saturday night will be a chuckwagon supper.

Randy will be working that weekend, but I may try to make it over for at least a day.

Good deal! Let me know if you can make it. It will be our first trail ride of the year, and Sampson's first real trail ride.

The next time we plan an HT get together, I am highly recommending Duncan Lake. The folks over there were really nice and helpful. There were plenty of shady areas to park the trailer, clean bathrooms, running water for the horses, a wash area, and picnic tables available at the camp grounds. The trails were well kept and marked. They run all around the lake. (Maps are available. I was clueless for most of the ride as to what direction we were going.)

I really enjoyed the 12 mile ride. My rear was a bit saddle sore, but it was well worth it! I am proud of Sampson. We started at the front of the group, then I moved him to the back. He did wonderful. He didn't fuss a bit. We went up and down some steep creek bottoms without hesitation. He was one tired boy after we got back to the trailer. That evening Sampson gave a little boy his first ride on a horse! It was a really neat deal.

Oh that's great! I'm glad you had a good time! I was going to call you, I wasn't able to go. Randy was working and I would have had to take both girls. It would have been quite tricky! I have been really wanting to go over there too, especially since it's so close.

That horse of yours is a very handsome boy, I really like him! How sweet that he gave someone their first ride.

It's actually OK. It's about 40 miles north of TX on 81.

No throwing tomatoes please. It had been a rough start to my weekend up until we pulled into the camping area. Long story made short. I forgot my camera in the rush to get things loaded up. I am kicking my own rump for it. I had my camera and extra batteries setting on the table ready to go, and I ran out of the house without them. I PROMISE next time I will have pictures.

ETA: Thanks Roberts for the compliment on Sampson! He's my pride and joy!
