Help Finding A Horse

Howdy All! The horse hunt is on yet again. As many if you know, I lost my beloved Bo last month. I was also in the hospital for what turned out to be stress. Phil and I decided that the best way to help me destress is find a horse and board here close to Carrollton so I can go ride a couple of times a week. You may also know we moved our other horses to our friend's ranch 3 hours away so they will be safe since we can't move out to our land in the foreseeable future. Why not bring one of those back to Carrollton you might ask. The answer is that they are all greenbroke. I am looking for a horse that I can just love and enjoy without being on my toes every minute - one I can just jump on bareback and ride off if I feel like it. One that I can have confidence in and feel safe. Green-broke doesn't apply and my older gelding is being used at my friend's ranch and we don't really "click." I have been riding greenbroke horses for the past couple of years (with not much riding time at all) and I really want a horse that I can just enjoy and build my confidence back up since I am older now and not as carefree as I once was. I will basically be walking/trotting/loping, riding bareback and in the saddle and riding on trails.

So here's my wish list:

Has to be a people horse - I want to have a relationship with my best equine buddy.
Doesn't matter if a mare or gelding as long as they don't act too "marish: if a mare.
I ride Western so trained Western.
Neck reins.
Not spooky and if spooks, spooks "in place."
Can ride bareback.
14.2 to 15.2
I'm thinking 8 to 12 years old although a good mind is most important so can go a little way in either direction.
Color doesn't matter although I prefer darker colors - don't really want an all white horse or one with blue eyes.
Does not matter if grade or registered. Will consider any breed although I don't care particularly for Arabians.
Needs to be very well-broke - good walk, trot, lope and good stop. Leg cues are nice but not necessary. Not real spirited but not sluggish either - enjoys being ridden and will move out when asked.
Price range Up to $3500 max but prefer $2000 range which is better for our budget.
Will enjoy a human partner to love and be loved in return.

I am flexible on some points...

We are in the Dallas area so I hope to be able to go see any prospects within at most a couple of hours from home.

So if any of ya'll have met my dreamhorse/equine bestfriend, please let me know!

Thanks so much!

That's so awesome - Thanks for all your help! However please keep in mind how BIG the great state of Texas is - here's some stats I jus pulled off a website:

Land Area - 262,017 miles
Water Area - 4,790 square miles of inland water
Coast Line - 367 miles
Longest point from north to south - 801 miles
Widest point from east to west - 733 miles
Geographic center - Northern part of McCulloch County, about 15 miles northeast of Brady.
Highest Elevation - Guadalupe Peak at 8,749 feet
Lowest elevation - sea level along the Gulf Coast
Road miles - 305,951 (most of ANY state)

My zip code is 75007 and I need to limit the search to about 125 miles from there

I hope you can look some more but thanks for all you've done already...

He is a good looking boy! Valley View Ranch always has alot of horses for sale and they usually look very awesome, at least on their website - I may drive out there one of these days to see for myself but they are definately on the higher end price-wise...

Circle B Stables in Mansfield, TX is selling off all of their trail horses. You might try and give them a call. If you have problems finding their number let me know.

Good luck in your search.

I just tried calling again and got "mailbox full"

I emailed him too - I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

I wish I had more patience

Thanks for the information but I just called the Circle B and they all have sold except one, and she wasn't a good match. Thanks for trying though...

Man. I didn't think he would last long but wow that was quick. He was a 13 year old, b&w paint, 14.3H. Lady was moving and needed to find him a new home. Was only $750
The search continues.

Did you ever hear back on Jake. I have drooled over that horse for a while now. I think he would be perfect for my mom, but we have too many as it is. If you hear back, I would love to know what the owners said about him.
