I haven't been to Bandera, but my parents went and said not to take a young horse, it was kinds scary at times.
Look at McKinney roughs, its my favorite right now around here. There is sand to tire out the young horses fast and then the river to play in. And the BIG oak trees to keep you shaded during the heat of the day(in summer). It is expensive though
It might be too far from you but you could also look at Prarie Haynes(sp). It is very rocky so be sure to shoe your horses, but its a nice ride with some hills but nothing to be worried about. You do cross water(which is fun

) though. Its cheap and you can stay overnight there
